Re: Let's have some of that good old-time religion

...from inside the Christianity people have extra reason (reason+) above the Atheists because the religious actually reflect on the mysteries of the Universe, like mystery of life-sources in a vast (burning/ultra-hot by the stars and core of the planets) Universe. It can just as easily be said that...

Re: Fear Of Life

artisticsolution... very interesting post. I can relate to it. I, too, have a Christian mom who suffers from rage and who has, in the past, looked possessed as she accused ME of being the devil. Fortunately, she has turned around in her old age, and she never owned a gun. These experiences we have a...

Re: Religions are fairy tales for adults. Should we encourage them to grow up?

Not everybody finds me so, Gustav, so your answer might lie within. Disguising your insults within your florid rhetoric does not make them any the less deliberately offensive. Indeed it makes them more so because you impugn the intelligence of your readers by doing so. At least if I think somebody'...

Oh my! Well, I guess there's no chance of uncomfortable emotional entanglements if the one she's doing is four miles away.

Re: Atheism on Trial

Lets forget the silly semantics and agree that the only honest answer to the question,"does God exist" is "I don't know". Is applying this logic to the question of a god the same for you as applying this logic to any other question of something's existence? Meaning, would you answer "I don't know" ...

Re: God: What is your opinion or belief?

I do not believe in a god. I think about "all" being "connected energy" -- which is NOT a god. What makes you so certain that this "connected energy" is NOT a God? To suggest ALL being is a connected energy, is to suggest that I am connected to a tree somewhere in Southampton, how so? It seems to m...

Re: Changing one´s life by changing one´s perspective.

Although this kind of work can have a positive effect, it does nothing to increase our understanding of the real nature of mind or the self. Just like ANYTHING we do! Anything we do can be (and often is) like going through the MOTIONS -- not understanding or seeing more broadly. It seems that we ar...

Re: Changing one´s life by changing one´s perspective.

Is it possible to change one´s life thoroughly by changing one´s perspectives ? Seems that way to me!! (I like this topic.) I think we can, and do, hypnotize ourselves into all sorts of states/"realities". Two people can be in the exact same situation... and have vastly different experiences of it....

Re: God: What is your opinion or belief?

ROFLMAO!! Your veneer is beginning to fade. You're just another anti-theist bigot. I have no idea why you've come to this conclusion. My dear theist friends would not agree with your shallow assessment of me. I can only guess that you're a bit mad and thick with your limited conclusions. ...

Re: God: What is your opinion or belief?

Philosophically, denying God's personhood, the personhood of the Ground without which nothing that has existence cold exist, one is left having to choose between pantheism or materialism. Clearly, you have chosen the latter. I've chosen neither. Limited choices and definitions are manmade. Skeptics...

I've ALREADY answered: I do not believe in a god.

Now stop asking stupid questions repeatedly like a child because you are incapable of accepting/understanding the answers.

Re: God: What is your opinion or belief?

Inglorious, I thought you were focused on a broader interpretation/perspective with your god idea, when you spoke of the "grounding of existence". That, to me, suggested no personification. But now you're defending such beliefs that embrace "personhood", so I don't know where you really stand. That'...

Re: God: What is your opinion or belief?

Well, I was describing the "infinite whatever"... not a god... and the concept of "it" is certainly better than "he". "He" is just ridiculous. I'm guessing that there would be a significant beneficial difference in our world if Christianity had used the term "it"!!! Think carefully: do you think it...
