Re: Energy: Its characteristics and boundaries

It appears that the characteristics and boundaries of energy are being DEMONSTRATED here via the "You are. No, YOU are." interaction going back and forth. At least you guys have made me laugh. Thanks to those who have answered the OP questions. Most of the answers stretched my brain... but I tried t...

Re: Evidence of God.

I've read every word of Lacewing's post as i have done in many posts of hers. The fact that it addresses barely one inkling of my OP matters not...for a debate about nothing, Ah, so you don't connect the dots for everything then. 8) but this is a debate regarding the existence of God How do you exp...

Re: Evidence of God.

Don't do it, Hobbes. Just trust me on this. While we're waiting to see if Hobbes flings something at you... I'd like to offer my own response. I've talked at length while participating on this forum re my personal experience of God. Well here atheists and theists can pick me apart, am i rational or...

Re: What would it take to convince you that somebody is a prophet?

A prophet doesn't have anything in common with anybody. Wouldn't that make them kinda useless? Are they just supposed to stand on a rock and tell people what to do (supposedly) according to a god, without having any understanding or commonality with people, themselves? Detached, grand messengers......

Re: Energy: Its characteristics and boundaries

All these silly questions should be answered in basic shool physics ..how is it that you not know of these things? I don't remember any physics in my education, and what I THINK is not the same as knowing. How is it that YOU don't know what YOU don't know??? Hmm? Please do answer! I also like askin...

Energy: Its characteristics and boundaries

Can some really smart scientific-types here explain to me in very SIMPLE terms your understanding of energy as follows: > Is energy just a word/concept... or is it measurable? > If it is measurable/identifiable(?), how do we know what its boundaries are? > Does every movement/activity create energy?...

Re: What would it take to convince you that somebody is a prophet?

Some of us have shared personal experiences, and are interested in the experiences of others, without being negative about it. That's good to hear. Thanks doc! It seems to me that hearing about any philosophical realm that any person is (respectfully) speaking from can expand one's own philosophica...

Re: What would it take to convince you that somebody is a prophet?

That's very poetic Lacewing. Thank you Gary. There are times when I wonder to myself if we are not our own biggest barriers to spirituality because we are too skeptical. On the other hand I think there is a sense in which skepticism can also be healthy to an extent. For example if I suddenly starte...

Re: What would it take to convince you that somebody is a prophet?

What sorts of "mystical coincidences" have you experienced? Hi Gary. This is normally the kind of topic I LOVE discussing... as I think it is so interesting to realize what is possible beyond the confines of what we consider "real/normal". I've had experiences that truly transcend myself and the ph...

Re: What would it take to convince you that somebody is a prophet?

Are you completely dense? This is a rhetorical question, right? A bit. 8) I actually would like to hear what people will answer honestly to any question I pose. But I'm not surprised that anyone whom I would ask such a question as this, is not likely to be someone who can or will answer what I typi...

Re: Atheists are smarter , but it seems also more creative.

I think this is very nicely said. It makes me think of how ANY ready-made plate of opinions that people accept and sit in front of, keeps them from noticing or questioning or, even, accepting what else there is. It's nuts. And it can be served up in so many ways. Ready-made plates of opinions EVERY...

Re: What would it take to convince you that somebody is a prophet?

Now that you mention you're a woman, everything is falling into place, so I'll handle you with kid gloves. I would be very interested in your evaluation of the letter sent to me by the Spiritual Counterfeits Project. Are you completely dense? I've told you that I'm not interested in this thing that...

Re: What would it take to convince you that somebody is a prophet?

Why don't you use the balls you were born with and look at the website, and then comment on the letter from the spokesman of the conservative Spiritual Counterfeits Project? Are you speaking of physical balls? I wasn't born with those; I'm female. I've already told you why the things YOU suggest th...

Re: Atheists are smarter , but it seems also more creative.

I see intelligence as an expression of intellectual freedom and not much else. To me it's all about adopting the contrarian's stance and assuming that everything you see, read and hear is bullshit until you have persuasive evidence to the contrary. Question everything and believe nothing. Be a pers...

Re: What would it take to convince you that somebody is a prophet?

Yes, I'm talking to you again, you know, right after your post. Who else would I be talking to? You DO realize that there are multiple conversations going on, and that posts aren't always in response to the post immediately preceding them? And when the things you say seem off-track with me, I'm not...
