Re: Philosophy videos

This is true, in fact even on a psychological level this is true. For when a religious person approaches someone, enticing them to follow their God, if one rejects their religion...they feel no different than a woman scorned, rejected. This is because (although they will say otherwise) their God is...

Re: Why are people scared of philosophy?

According to the youtube video that she suggested that I watch, everyone has the inclination to submit—to follow. Leaders only lead because they want to live vicariously through their servants. S&M is a pure form of sex in the sense that drugs have a pure form. I took offense to that last part, bec...

Re: Why are people scared of philosophy?

I thought that she might just be a fool who thinks that she is wise so I confronted her: I hope that what you are saying is true, because if not, your arrogance is going to leave you without a chance to learn. If you want true arrogance, you need a moderator for that. I do not try to hush and stomp...

Re: Philosophy videos

Mayan pyramid is only a metaphor, it could be any kind of pyramid, Aztec, Incan, Hindu, even Egyptian. Also my fantasy was I was never to be on top, but the bottom. Well my fantasy was always to be on top of the pyramid. I think that those on the bottom are imagining themselves to be on the top. Th...

Re: Philosophy videos

Made a vid about life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVKFL0ImCl8  Apparently the whole point of life is to become a sacrifice on top of a Mayan pyramid. And then she plays that song by Linkin' Park: "We're building it up/ To break it back down." You guys can call me crazy, but I associated...

Re: Why are people scared of philosophy?

It's not that anyone is scared, it's just that it is a very esoteric subject. Maybe it's because philosophers are so cryptic in their speech, using words like esoteric. And we never act on any of our thoughts. We just keep writing in our cryptic speech hoping that the world will learn. I apologize ...

Re: Why are people scared of philosophy?

Why don't you tell us more about yourself? According to her, she is the wisest person here. I will let you know, I am the wisest one here. Though Carl Sagan perhaps has more zeal than I, I am most certainly wiser than he. (100% percent probability.) I am the GreatandWiseTrixie. I come from a land i...

Re: Solving the Major Problems of Society

Go for it; there is no substitute for experimentation, but I would be very surprised to discover that the cross section of humanity that is the PN forum could agree about the day of the week. Truly, there is no substitute for experimentation. I encourage you, when we get to the prove/disprove step,...

Re: Why are people scared of philosophy?

It may be due to an education system that says, "Sit down, shut up, and believe what I tell you." And it can't help that the curricula rarely involve anything to do with deep thinking.

Re: Debate about How to Solve the Major Problems of Society

of course, the first major problem of society we will resolve to solve is the unending appearance of questions about how to solve the problems of society... -Imp Thanks for giving me something relevant to debate. No, seeking solutions is not a worthless endeavor. However, jumping to conclusions abo...

Debate about How to Solve the Major Problems of Society

I have realized that my thinking method may in fact be inferior to debate. So I have devised a control experiment. In this topic/thread I would like to see a debate about how to solve the root causes of the major problems of society. Then we can judge whether debate or my proposed thinking method wa...

Re: Solving the Major Problems of Society

If that is the case, then I would ask that you consider that I am doing it to get to the truth—not just rules for the sake of rules. Best of luck. I think it's a fools errand, because it is demonstrably the case that different people have different interests and this will lead to competition. It wo...

Re: Hello from the United States.

I bet that most of you never expected to have an intellectually stimulating conversation with someone from the United States. I'm just joking; there have been plenty of immigrants. Joking again. All jokes aside: I love the magazine. I come to the forum with a mighty need to solve all of society's m...

Re: Solving the Major Problems of Society

L. O. L.. I thought philosophy already had rules for that? I think that the thinking method that I am using is unique, but I would like to hear what the rules for philosophy are. Perhaps you could throw in what the reasoning behind the rules are too. I know about the Socratic method, but it seemed ...
