Re: Why are people scared of philosophy?

So you are basically saying that ALL chiefs and directors are compulsive liars, that's rich! Do you actually have any statistics to support this absurd claim? Sure sometimes leaders must lie or stretch the truth in order to keep things calm or motivate people, but being a compulsive liar ..no! Yeah...

What is your purpose and intent for mentioning this? Hoping to squash any efforts for a group of species that have very little to no rights to begin with?

Re: The Moral Imagination

. Yes. I agree. The original poster and the post that began this thread is utter untruth and rubbish. Almost unbelievable that this particular member needed to quote a nobody from way-back in 1969. TOTAL utter untruth and rubbish. I was offended and I would bet other intelligent and respected activ...

Maybe so, but who I was really alluding to, was the modern man. For he will say to you that he loves his suffering (his life) more than almost anything in the world.

I disagree. The word "better' does have meanings. Please respond to the question about a dog's limitations. better1 [bet-er] Spell Syllables Synonyms Examples Word Origin adjective , compar. of good with best as superl. 1. of superior quality or excellence: a better coat; a better speech. 2. morall...

Will you please share your opus? I'm not promising that I'll believe everything, but I'll give it a chance. The first part is here. Re: The Moral Imagination

Trixie appears to reject the description of reality known as the hierarchy of being . And, accordingly, she rejects the belief that a man is essentially superior to a dog. A relevant principle from scholastic philosophy, and a tool for testing her contention, is the following: 81 One being or perfe...

Re: Sartre: How,Do,We,Get from Nothingness to Freedom

Yes, a chronological approach is helpful. We could say existentialism has joined up with certain elements of phenomonology. The basic problem for Heidegger was to discover the nature of being. In the Western tradition, probably starting with Plato, the idea of referencing or categorizing, perhaps e...

I would also like to mention more about "the primitive level". For example, in music, major and minor chords grip everyone on a primitive level, in the same way. But sometimes people get tired of their own primitive instincts, and find new forms of music, like dubstep, dissonance, and non-music. In...

Food we Eat.

So I get the apple out of the fridge. It's skin is all wrinkly, thick, and rough, cracked, like an orange. I put it back in the fridge. I can't tell if it's some genetically modified mutated expirment pooped out from Monsanto, the result of some new fangled mutating pesticide, or a new brand of appl...

Re: ~ The Meaning of Life ~

Take it up with Warner Bros as it had mass-appeal. No reason to. Without washing machines, where would we be? We'd have smelly clothes. Eventually after many years of smelling the bacteria, we would become physically sick. Then, we would be transported to a hospital, and cared for. If you did not h...
