I don't think it is the only race that matters. A broad diversity of other species also matters.

Re: The Theory of Evolution - perfect?

We all have a "reptile" brain under everything else. But do we therefore know what it means to be a reptile? Should Thomas Nagel have aimed lower? Is there anything about 'being' that is different from the experiences you have? What do you think Hume would have said, Lev? I don't think ev...

Yes, God seems to be a bit of a tinkerer. Sir Isaac would be happy.

Re: Belief in God is Properly Basic.

Most religions that I am familiar with, are based on the faith that certain things are true, without proof. Flailing against a belief that lacks proof, but is based on faith, is a particularly silly argument, and yet this is the mainstay of most atheist's arguments against the existence of God. In ...

Re: Belief in God is Properly Basic.

Silly circular logic. Whilst this might be true, you are not saying how or why. He didn't create our cognitive abilities, apparently we only gained our cognitive abilities from eating the apple of wisdom, so in that we should have stayed eternally stupid if not. Belief in god does not necessarily e...

Re: Authentic vs. Vicarious?

No one has stooped as low as yourself: an ad hominem is a species of philosophical fallacy. I see no evidence, as yet of any philosophy from you - but then I am new here. You still have failed to answer the simple question with any philosophy. Denigrating it as a "cozy chat" is not an exa...

Re: Authentic vs. Vicarious?

I do not think I have ever had a vicarious experience. What does one look like? I can imagine performing an act of employment; does that count? I took the OP as being related to the Jackson's Knowledge Argument and Lewis' Ability Hypothesis. I could be wrong. Fine. So what is a vicarious experience?

Re: Authentic vs. Vicarious?

Only for Hexhammer. But he doesn't discriminate - he offends everyone. I wish to take issue with this claim. Mr Hammer doesn't offend me in the slightest and is a source of great hilarity. I should have said he 'attacks' everybody, not offends. I also find him entertaining. So, is the thread a dead...

Re: Autism, synapses. Healhy. "Not healthy"...

Children with autism have more nerve synapses in their brain. [ http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2014/08/140821124730.htm ] Is it possible that we with the LESS synapses regard people with MORE synapses as "problematic" and "non healthy"? How arrogant can we be? How blind? W...

Re: different way of understanding grammer.

Sorry, VT always just puts me in a bad mood. Interest was charged for post war loans, but no money was made on lend lease, most of it wasn't returned and most of that debt forgiven. I always thought the U.S. was neutral by law and lend lease was a legal way to get around the neutrality acts by thos...

Northern Europe is in Europe, yes. So whenever one replies to a topic of discussion, he can create a new topic of discussion and claim to be remaining on topic so long as the new topic encompasses the old? Wouldn't it be the other way around? Are you either confused or are you just getting desperat...
