Re: On Happiness
His solution? I suppose there are two ways to answer that: 1) If a person were to gain the insights that Siddhartha does, then that person would certainly not rape someone else. and 2) If a person who were raped had gained the same insight, they would behave accordingly in reaction. Siddhartha doesn...

Re: If infinite parallel universes exist ...
I very much agree....in the bit that you quoted that was my point as well. Logic and reason are the foundation for exploring what lies beyond. I just like to think there are other tools in the toolbox as well, such as empathy, compassion, intuition, etc. I think it's best to use all of these in harm...

Re: What is an object
I think maybe the point is there is no "correct" answer? Again, it's always interesting to see how much of the leading modern edge of physics inserts itself into a lot of these conversations to me. But that's why whether we include the quantum physics or the string theory or not, once agai...

Re: "conscience clause" and pharmacists
All this tells me is that you have more than enough resources to leverage and get whatever you'd like. Greed in government exists, but there are at least *some* mechanisms that try to control it. The private sector, while appropriate for the non-essential of living, is pure greed - no restrictions, ...

Oh - so we were on the same page...
I try not to have hobby-horses myself, they're too hard to feed for me
But I definately like that quote, I say no matter how much we know - and we should always be learning - there will still be plenty we don't konw.

Re: If infinite parallel universes exist ...
Strange....I don't particularly believe in a supreme being, nor am I a rationalist. Maybe some have used either of those things to that end and now you assume I am too? And actually to go back to what Ginko said too, if you're still following the thread, I understand limits in math, and how it helps...

Nor should you have wasted it, my way of expression might have reason, but it never seems to find much of an audience.

Re: Should public nudity be legal?
Couldn't agree more, and I was being hyperbolic in my imagery I'm more pointing out whether I'm comfortable with it or not, full public nudity probably just isn't going to go over very well with the general public.

Ha skip - I like it, you had the same points to make but I just don't have the sharp wit to do it like that Glad to see there's others who see that when people cry freedom, they usually mean money.

Re: "conscience clause" and pharmacists
Hmm, well to my mind yes, that's easy. First of all, it's not "the government" that is prescribing anything - its physicians with the proper knowledge and education. They are very much regulated and reviewed by the government now as well. It almost sounds like your telling me that the gove...

Re: If infinite parallel universes exist ...
Ginko, to me non-local in physics and non-local in metaphysics are certainly related, but of course in this forum they would be used somewhat differently. In physics, it refers to an interaction between two things at a distance...the strangest of which I find to be gravity, which I think people real...

Re: Death
I sometimes wonder if infinity and and death really are polar opposites. They are certainly both concepts that are hard for us to conceptualize. I wouldn't say I experience moment to moment as a single thing, but they are all part of the same evolution of consciousness. I find it curious that quantu...

Re: "conscience clause" and pharmacists
Hmm...I'm feeling brave I'll wade into this one... I don't think any pharcmacists should be able to refuse to give any kind of medication in their profession at all. Of course henry will probably have momentary mental explosion if don't qualify a reasoning, and god knows the Inpenitent will think of...

Re: Nominalism vs Realism and Metaphysics of René Guénon
Indeed it is just another step in discover the truths of reality, which i think of as a quest or striving for the constant acquisition of ideas that augment their knowledge of the reality they are in. The same reason I scanned the video the same reason you scanned my response - though many things ma...
