Re: The Free Will Pill

Ever taken an IQ test? What you say makes no sense, it's incoherent babble! Care to be more specific? Let me put it this way, you are a "rain man" devoid of rationale, you don't understand basic self explanatory things. Maybe I can give a longer more sensical answer another time, but for now I real...

Re: The Wrong God

So is your Aeon space (or its force) linked to consciousness in your theory? Wyman, Yes. I see it as the space from which single potentially conscious units came into being. The force manifested by Aeon space is that which powers the deepest level of your mind, and even of mine now and then. Of cou...

Re: Perception and Consciousness

the comparison of the perception as something manipulated would require access to a "pure" perception... -Imp Not sure what you mean by 'pure perception.' As opposed to what? the one you judge as manipulated... -Imp There need not be a proto-percept as something prior to and distinct from the perce...

Re: The Liar's paradox

Rinse/repeat. What the fuck is an assertion? If you paid attention to the book I posted above propositions are types in Homotopy. How do you assert the truth-value of a proposition? If your answer to most questions involves type theory, then why not start a thread on that topic? But referring peopl...

Re: The Liar's paradox

What the fuck is a truth-claim? e.g which theory of truth are you are appealing to? There are at least 20 of them... Who is "we"? I don't understand what it means. The sentence contains zero bits of information - therefore it is infinitely vague. See first point above. What the fuck is a truth-clai...

Re: Perception and Consciousness

I think you are on to something, but the perceptions themselves are not manipulated, rather the descriptions we give to said perception via language, distort it... first privately as defined by oneself and secondly, when communicated publicly... then nuanced distortions begin as the public descript...

Re: Knowledge, encrypted in our brains or not

One plausible theory is that the knowledge is encrypted in our brains and it somehow is decoded as a result of mental activity becoming ready for experience. Where the knowledge comes from? Evolution, by chance. Basically those creatures who by chance have more knowledge could survive better. What ...

Re: The Liar's paradox

The sentence is a truth claim: This sentence is false . What the fuck is a truth-claim? e.g which theory of truth are you are appealing to? There are at least 20 of them... We all understand what it means. No vagueness at all . Who is "we"? I don't understand what it means. The sentence contains ze...

Perception and Consciousness

Would anyone like to have a discussion about that part of consciousness we call 'perception'? I believe that perception is an activity and that we are much more like an artist creating our conscious experience than we are mere receivers of our conscious experience. This is contrary to, among others,...

Kripke's Naming and Necessity

I will break Kripke's main ideas down one at a time and see if anyone is interested in discussing them. First, the modal problem. Most philosophers would agree that x=x is a necessary truth. The question is, given that y=x, does it follow that y necessarily equals x? It does seem to follow directly ...

Re: The Free Will Pill

Isn't forcing free will an oxymoron? But I think that most people like to be told how to act - they believe in moral maxims that are handed to them by religion or society or parents and then rather thoughtlessly follow them. It is too much pressure to act freely. Ever taken an IQ test? What you say...

Re: The Free Will Pill

People wouldn't want free will even if it could be offered. How do you know? What if it was forced? Isn't forcing free will an oxymoron? But I think that most people like to be told how to act - they believe in moral maxims that are handed to them by religion or society or parents and then rather t...

Re: DIVERSITY IS AMERICA'S GREATEST STRENGTH

ROFLMAO. I love it when males talk about 'real men' as if 'man' is a synonym for 'noble, god-like person with a penis'. FFS. You conceited little wanker. (Ohh, I insulted the Nazi vermin. I will probably get banned now.) (1) I don't know what the acronym "ROFLMAO" means. Do tell. (2) No, I didn't s...
