Re: Christian Civilization -- The Central Issue

I wish I could find the words to express how little I care, and that desire makes me realise how important not caring is to me. It seems I do have a purpose, after all. 🙂 Perhaps I can tempt you with the philsophisings of Hortence P Gusset who tells us that the "mass religion man" is a ph...

Re: Christian Civilization -- The Central Issue

...but the concept of the Trinity is an "ad hoc" addition to the Christian narrative that occurred when a bunch of smelly old men got together in Nicaea, 325 years after the death of Christ, and arbitrarily declared that God is a Trinity. The "smelly old men" made Jesus into a d...

Re: Christian Civilization -- The Central Issue

The trinity represents the three manifestations of God.

The Father is God separate and beyond the world.

The Son is God within others.

The Holy Spirit is God within yourself.

Re: Christian Civilization -- The Central Issue

I assume that at least something remains sacrosanct to your cynical, shrouded self?
Cynical?

Hardly.

I have all sorts of positive ideas about human pursuit of truth, justice, fairness, freedom, honesty, honor, etc.

But it's not about me.

Re: Christian Civilization -- The Central Issue

Christianity is fine. I'm not a Christian but if that's what others want to be, then that is probably a good thing in so far as "love thy neighbor and enemy" are good ideas. Though, many people call themselves "Christians" who maybe shouldn't. There is good and bad in everything...

Re: Christian Civilization -- The Central Issue

Could you articulate what you do identify with? I have no interest in talking about myself in these forums. I do not understand why living among people of different faiths or political persuasions would result in non-commitment. America, the American Constitution, American Christianity, Christianit...

Re: Christian Civilization -- The Central Issue

What actual policies would be pursued and which laws would be enacted by the Christian Nationalists? What rules and regulations were imposed (decided on) when the Constitution of the country was conceived of? I would suggest that an answer to your question would be answered if you better understood...

Re: Christian Civilization -- The Central Issue

I still have no idea what is actually being suggested. As a starting point the transformation and restoration presented as possible involves reforging a life-line with and a connection to divinity (metaphysical being), both as a concept and as a realness that one — what is the word? — submits to or...

Re: Christian Civilization -- The Central Issue

Here is one current example of what is being discussed at a cultural level. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4K1nnOXKrUg The Left’s Next Step in Its Anti-Christian Smear Campaign That's very general and abstract. What actual policies would be pursued and which laws would be enacted by the Christian ...

Re: Christian Civilization -- The Central Issue

Someone opened a window and fresh air is blowing into this musty room. Just more talking about each other ... complaining, psychoanalyzing, insulting. Well, to be fussy. You just did that. You could have posted something of substance. It was just so lovely to see someone notice what was so extensiv...

Re: Slow Connection or Slow Server?

An update. Bora thinks he MAY have fixed the speed problem but we'd appreciate your help in spotting any unexpected side effects of his cure. As Seeds and Gary pointed out, there are absurdly high numbers of visitors to the forum much of the time at present, presumably most of them being bots. Bora...

Re: Why search for moral objectivity?

Look at the thread title. The title asks "WHY search for moral objectivity?". I told you. And your response was that people don't change their beliefs and people don't want to change their beliefs. Which seems to be clearly false. Would we say that moral truth came and slapped him in the ...
