Re: Quantity and Quality

Different minds can observe the same thing simultaneously and yet have different subjective opinions with regard to its quality
No two will think exactly the same all of the time and so there is no universal standard for determining what quality actually is

Re: Big Question 1

Why do good people do bad things ? Labelling someone a good person just means that they do good things most of the time just not ALL of the time So it does not mean they cannot or do not do bad things as well but just not as often as the good things they do Equally too a bad person can do bad thing...

Re: "There has never been true communism."

One : we are not actually hardwired to be universally altruistic

Two : communism doesnt work because people like to own stuff as Frank Zappa said

The first applies to true communism and the second applies to economic communism

You all know the difference so I dont need to tell you what it is

Re: There is No Distinction Between Appearances and Things in Themselves

A false statement is as much a part of the Universe as a true statement is The important thing here is the fact that both types of statements can exist regardless of anything else A false statement is false in relation to the statement itself but not in relation to the fact that it exists A true sta...

Re: ethical suppression of speech

I would actually say that the human beings known as or who call themselves scientists are just as susceptible to their own biases as other human beings The ones that are called scientist just pretend or believe they are not and some others actually believe this What evidence do you have for this ? ...

Re: ethical suppression of speech

That division raises more questions than it answers because it eliminates the mechanism for deciding where the line between opinion and fact is drawn The line between opinion and fact is actually very clearly drawn : opinion is subjective truth which does not have to be demonstrated as it is simply...

Re: ethical suppression of speech

Surely you admit belief can be either justified or unjustified ? Yes it can but belief can never be knowledge and here is why Belief is a faith position with insufficient supporting evidence / knowledge is a non faith position with sufficient supporting evidence Belief is opinion based and knowledg...

Re: Is it possible to obtain a fixed truth?

The only possible truth that could be classed as absolute is logical truth because logic is deductive Truth from experience is less absolute because perception is subjective and is therefore unreliable a priori deals in knowledge derived from logic whereas a posteriori deals in knowledge derived fro...

Re: ethical suppression of speech

The standard definition of knowlege is justified true belief but I do not use it because belief and knowledge are not and can never mean the same thing so that definition for me is an invalid one My definition of knowledge is that which is taken to be true and which can be demonstrated to be true An...

Re: The Privileged

For example a white woman will be privileged because she is white but not because she is a woman Or a black man will be privileged because he is a man but not because he is black and there are many other examples like these To simply identify privilege in terms of wealth or class is to disregard the...
