The current scientific paradigm has a deep rooted and suppressed fear of metaphysics
Given that metaphysics is beyond the remit of science then any such fear is without justification
As whatever metaphysics has to say about the nature of reality is philosophical and not scientific

Re: If dimensionless points don't exist, does that mean space doesn't exist?

A dimensionless point by definition cannot actually exist whereas space does One should not confuse the map with the territory for they are not the same As one is merely a representation of the other Very accurate representation but nothing else The laws of physics might be mathematical in form But ...

Re: Do you have a soul?

No NDE can be properly investigated by science because they are all based on single person interpretations Which means there is no way of either inter subjectively or objectively determining how accurate they are More specifically because the degree of emotional or psychological bias cannot be minim...

Re: Do you have a soul?

I do not do belief of any kind so do not believe in the soul which is something that there is no evidence for at all Rather like that other non falsifiable concept known as God it was born out of the totally irrational fear of death When you overcome this fear and simply accept death as a natural ph...

Re: Could a Robot be Conscious?

I do not know why it is necessary for the universe to be aware why cannot it just exist without awareness But awareness does exist without knowing ... the knower is the phantom created by the brain as not knowing awareness becomes aware of itself as other via the imaged imprint it projects outside ...

Pragmatic thinking is better than positive thinking because pragmatism actually works

Re: Could a Robot be Conscious?

But how do we know that we are a part of a whole consciousness or the whole is the sum of the parts ( ie each human is conscious by himself ) The simple answer to that is that we do not know or can not ever know of consciousness beyond our own experience I think that other human beings are consciou...

Re: To what extent do egocentric biases influence the information we trust?

I avoid egocentric biases as much as possible since I much prefer an emotionally neutral state of mind
I cannot be absolutely bias free of course but I can definitely keep it down to an acceptable minimum
