Re: Ultimate Reality

Reality must have some attributes even if they cannot be defined because it is all that exists
Now what the actual nature of it is is another matter entirely but it has to exist in some form

Re: The Infinite! In Search of the Ultimate Truth.

I also think the infinite exists because absolute nothing cannot be sustained and so there must always

Re: Ultimate Reality

material existence is not all that exists but everything else that exists ( the non material ) only exists as the product of the human mind Thoughts are only regarded as non material because of the subjective interpretation of what constitutes material In reality there is no such distinction becaus...

Re: No Birth - No Death - No Death - No Birth.

Philosophy is about proof Science is about falsification The middle ground is epistemic agnosticism where it all works on the balance of probabilities Philosophy is not about proof but mathematics is Falsification is a type of proof [ negative proof ] so there can be no middle ground between them T...

Re: RE: TELLING HOLMES WHY SUBJECTIVE MORALITY IS NONSENSE

The question that concerns us now is : Has there indeed been objective moral progress in the world ? The way a moral relativist would dismiss all of your on point criticism is simply thus : all the examples you have provided merely signify moral change but is that really progress ? Explain your rea...

Re: The ontological error of Philosophy

I am not aware of any philosophical question that philosophy cannot answer. Philosophers are able to prove that all metaphysical questions are undecidable and this tells us most of the answers The function of philosophy is simply to make sure that the right type of question is being asked - that an...

Re: No Birth - No Death - No Death - No Birth.

It is also irrational because we do apparently understand it rationally...also it is irrational to understand it rationally because ultimately there is nothing to understand we are the standing under what will always be beyond comprehension...the self evident truth is that life is functioning and w...

Re: No Birth - No Death - No Death - No Birth.

Reality is only irrational to us because we do not fully understand it and never shall
Though if we did we would realise there is actually nothing irrational about it at all

Re: Does absolute truth exist?

That is also another reason for thinking it cannot be revealed to us as how could we be certain
Because we would not have any rigorous means for determining whether or not it was absolute

Re: Does absolute truth exist?

I would say that absolute truth does exist but it will remain for ever unknown to us
As we just do not have the capacity to understand anything in such profound terms

Re: You never happened.

I accept there are many minds and that collectively they constitute human consciousness
However I am sceptical about the concept of Awareness as the manifestation of all minds
And I also do not accept that ultimately there is nothing and that everything is an illusion

Re: Can the universe think?

The Universe is an isolated system that functions according to the laws of classical and quantum physics I would not say that it thinks like a biological organism does but I think any distinction is purely academic The reason I say this is because functioning and thinking are simply different points...

The belief that there is an absolute knower exists as many conceptual ideas within human consciousness Human minds have always had these conceptual ideas because they explain what they do not understand Rather they try [ and fail ] to explain what they do not understand as all metaphysical claims a...
