Re: Free Will

Well, I wouldn't be worried about that at all. I think it's obvious that "predictability with (absolute) certainty is not possible epistemologically. But "predetermined" does mean "predictable with absolute certainty in principle " if not in fact. In other words, if Determinism is true, then in the...

Re: Being Anti-God

Listen if I want to play the role of being a theatrical drama queen, then that’s my prerogative…. I’m not going to change just to appease you. Quite correct. And I have the prerogative to ignore it. I'm totally unimpressed by the theatrics. You're not winning any points by going on with them. I’ve ...

Re: Free Will

but only if the will is something apart from prior physical or ideal forces, which is just an assumption, and a very debatable one. No, that's backwards. Determinism has to hold that the will is strictly a product of prior forces. A belief in free will allows that its not. So there's no "debate" al...

Re: Man Brain?

What does mathematical inclination make you "masculine" in your brain? Does it have to? Or is this just a tendency which may be more prevalent in males but not significantly so? There's lots of research on this. One finding, apparently, has been that the bell curve for male intelligence sits both l...

Re: Being Anti-God

You’ve refused to believe the nondual reality. That's because "nondual reality" is an oxymoron. Think about it: think hard. If everything is "one" then nothing exists that is distinct from anything else ...and that means that nothing exists at all . Since you and I are here, that's ...

Re: Being Anti-God

I see it...but do you. I don't think you do. Hmmm.... :? Nope, you're still not getting the actual implication of what you're claiming when you say there are no "persons." I'll try to make my objection as clear and simple as I can. See if you can answer it cogently. I'll wait. Here's my objection. ...

Re: Being Anti-God

I'm amazed you can't see that...but of course, there's no "you" to "see" that, so I guess that makes sense. I see it...but do you. I don't think you do. Hmmm.... :? Nope, you're still not getting the actual implication of what you're claiming when you say there are no "persons." I'll try to ...

What do they have in common? Both have a history of Socialism and a history of regarding the West -- particularly Americans -- as "the enemy."

If he makes predictions he's a liar, whoever he might be. Heh. :D It's not a "prediction" when One knows. But we will see. Because one thing's for sure -- what will be, will be...regardless of what you or I might choose to believe. There is no believer, there is no chooser. Lets stop beating around...

Re: Free Will

Every person has his/her own will. Thus, each person can choose different actions to the same stimulus. I'd say that's right. Determinists would have to say no, and that his "will" is just a way of talking about the stimuli and the prior causes that produced the stimuli...not of anything that can a...

transablism : of all the trans states, this is the only one that holds true. A sighted man can indeed become a blind man... have spoon, will scoop . Quite right. To be precise, we might argue that it's "self-evident" that an abled man can disable himself, and still be what he says he is...a disable...

...something which is self-evident.... No such thing, Sam. It is self-evident that gender is different from race and species. It isn't at all evident that it's a difference that makes any difference in this particular case. They're all "transing." How come you'll let men play women, but won't let R...

Re: JK Rowling vs. History

Is suicidal ideation among the cisgendered population much less than 43%? Yes. It's much lower. The only people group who have a comparable rate of sucidal ideation/attempts/self harm, etc. were Jewish people during the Holocaust, actually. And interestingly, one of the lowest rates of suicide is a...

Re: JK Rowling vs. History

I think it's a lie made up by the anti-trans camp, and I think it is important that you accept responsibility for propagating one of their lies. Well, you there are several terms used -- suicide attempts, suicide ideation, achieved suicide, self-harm...all relevant, and depending on which you take,...
