I think everyone can be selfish at times. It is when people cannot work and cooperate with others because of it is when it becomes a problem.

Yes I think that knowledge is built upon previous knowledge. You would need to verify the facts of the statement to know if it is true or not, even if it is a valid statement.

I think what you said here is problematic- that we could not make any different choices. One of the definitions of choice is deciding between different things. So people have the ability to choose one way or another.

I don't do better thinking that way. I could never study or read without it being silent. Though some people can do that somehow.

Yes, you would need to be conscious in order to be aware of the emotion that you are feeling at the time. Without it, you wouldn't know what you are feeling.
