Re: Creation - Evolution

Atla, Age is saying that mere cause and effect automatically is creation and evolution. Like you randomly throw the pieces of a 1000-piece puzzle into the air, and all of them fall into the right place and create the picture. I do not need you to tell me what Age is saying. I can figure it out for m...

Re: Creation - Evolution

Every action has a reaction. Every reaction is a new creation. Every new creation evolves. Every evolving creation interacts with other creations. I have no problem with any of the above and accept it as true and accurate. The Universe is, fundamentally, made up of 'matter', and a distance between ...

Re: Creation - Evolution

Nope. And I continue to think clarification about creation, which tends to include the idea of intent, is right on topic . As are the other points I raised. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. If Age is not interested in communicating more clearly, that's fine. (Underlining...

Re: Creation - Evolution

So, again, to get back to what I actually said and wrote here: For those that cannot comprehend the irrefutable. Every action has a reaction. Every reaction is a new creation. Every new creation evolves. Every evolving creation interacts with other creations. The Universe is, fundamentally, made up...

Re: Creation - Evolution

So, the title of this thread is, still, about 'evolution-creation', but this one, like "atla", want to 'talk about' 'intent', for some reason. Nope. And I continue to think clarification about creation, which tends to include the idea of intent, is right on topic . As are the other points...

Ebola, Dinosaurs, and Deuteronomy

While posting in Bill Wiltrack's thread on Ebola, I mentioned that I thought I saw a connection between Ebola and the Laws in Deuteronomy. Bill asked me to expand on that idea, so here it is. A little late, but here. Ebola, Dinosaurs, and Deuteronomy -- is there a connection? Maybe only in my mind, ...

Re: A "Secular Spirituality"?

Well, the definition of "secular" clearly rules out the spiritual: No. Secular rules out religion. You keep insisting that religion and spiritual are the same thing. This is where the false dichotomy comes in, not with the word, "secular", but with the word, "religion"...

Re: A "Secular Spirituality"?

Now, now; simmer down: there's nothing wrong with saying "secular ism ." It doesn't distort the meaning at all. You're mistaking "-ism" for some allegation of bias. So you are saying that "dual" means the same as "dualism". "Race" means the same as ...

Re: A "Secular Spirituality"?

I don't see the problem with the words "secular spirituality" and suspect that you are creating a false dichotomy by associating "secular" with non-religious and "spirituality" with religious. Since "secular" can mean "earthy" or "worldly" ...

Re: God, gods, or none of the above?

Greylorn and Immanuel; I have been gone from this forum for a while and don't usually post in the Religion section, but your thread has drawn my interest. After reviewing your posts, I must say that I honestly respect your positions and even see some truth in your statements, but I just can not buy ...

Re: What is wise?

How can one distinguish a true judgement from a false one. There cannot be one without the other. When 1+1 goes through the processes of the mind...it references all instances of the circumstance (What it has been taught, how it feels, pictures of apples...) A chemical is released, pathways go to t...

Nibbana;

Hi. Welcome to the forum.
Nibbana wrote:I'm afraid physics can't apply to consciousness. it's not matter or energy.
This confuses me. The last time I checked, we still did not know what consciousness actually is, so how can we know what it is not?

Re: Are we eternal? (Eternal Recurrence)

Accounts of re-incarnation would be easy enough to verify were they true. And in every single case where such investigations have been made to prove re-incarnation the results have shown false. This is a damned lie. Gee "this is a damned lie" is not an argument. It is just childish foot s...

Re: Are we eternal? (Eternal Recurrence)

Hi All; I agree that the multiverse thing never made sense; universe means all. So there is one Universe. I have seen no evidence of an eternal recurrence, and it does not make sense. But I can see the philosophical reasoning that we should try to live each day as well as we can. But reincarnation ...
