Re: hey everyone! glad to be among the living :P
Hi Ungrateful Wrench, i doubt i'll be starting any topics myself You don't need to write an essay or an accurate and complete report in order to start a topic. Some people, like myself, do tend to write a rather large amount of text but this is because we can't - I can't - resist to the ...irresist...

Re: Panos
Hi everybody, Effie, γειά σου! You are the living proof that not all Greeks are totally incompetent when it comes to English (like myself ), I'm impressed! That sounds really nice, I am flattered. I have put a lot of effort in learning to communicate in english so a comment like that definitely pus...

Re: Panos
It's good to be back Mick,
I followed the link you gave me, thanks for that. I thoroughly enjoyed it. As a matter of fact, I have a thing or two to say about "thinking too much" myself, but I am sure whatever I would say is already been said in that thread.

Panos
Hi everybody, it’s good to be back, I have good memories from this forum which was my first by the way. When I joined, I didn’t really find the time to introduce myself, so here it is now: I am Panos, I live in Athens, Greece, I am married and I am the proud father of two kids, a son and a daughter....

Hi all, I hope I am not joining this discussion too late. Parenting is a kind of topic I wouldn't believe I would find where Gustaf introduced himself. Parenting is one of my major concerns lately as I am the father of a 11 month boy and I am a part-time stay-at-home dad. I have to say, my son taugh...

I am sorry it took me so long to post a reply, unfortunately I was one of the main agents involved in a secret operation in the depths of Africa. We went undercover for a week and I am telling you it was rough. I suppose, everything will come out in 30 years from now, if you still wonder what happen...

Bullwinkle wrote: You say that truth is based on the logical world. I don't think that this can be correct. I guess we are getting deeper and deeper... I agree with you, my statement was very big and I have to say I used it not in the sense of an absolute law (truth?) but in the sense of illuminati...

It is very interesting the way you elaborated on the notion of truth. If I was asked to do the same, even though I would result to the same conclusions, I would have taken a slightly different path. Let's examine this a little further: Bullwinkle wrote: I seem to be asking whether the thing in quest...

The truth is the Holy Grail for scientists. They know it's out there but they can never find it. Seriously, I would expect truth to be the factor that stands against every test, whether from nature, man, spacetime etc. At the same time, I believe the way this world is made there can be no truth, onl...

Bullwinkle wrote Your description of combining axioms and theorems makes science seem very straight forward. I suppose it's my background. Because of maths I am used in an abstract theoretical system where deduction prevails. However, as you stated further down in your reply, the weak points are th...

Hallo everybody
It was very interesting to read all of you and it makes it quite hard for me to decide where to begin. If I am not mistaken, science is characterised by it's methods. The systematic approach which is based on axioms, theorems and proofs is the materialisation of science. An axiom is something you (p...
