Re: What is tolerance?
Ghandi was also very much a pacifist. Because he was a great politician, do you think he would have used the same tactics of passive resistance if trying to separate from a culture untouched by the Age of Enlightenment, for instance, a culture intolerant of other religions? That's a good question t...

Re: Decadence and "Liberal Rot"
Yes cultural decadence happens when the breakes are placed on social change and social progress. When conservatives want to turn abck the clock to the "good old days", the result is stagnation and ossification of ideas. When people think they can "make american great again", wha...

Re: Faith: Difficult but Necessary?
Do the winners write history or does history favor those who deserve to win? I suggest peace is a viable and necessary route to save humanity from ourselves. Most Westerners have enjoyed a profoundly decadent and long-lasting 'peace' since 1945... That "peace" is coming to an end, because...

Re: What is tolerance?
That's great but the point is that the quote is not something that Aristotle is likely to have written. And in fact, if you research it, the quote is not in any of his existing writings. He would consider some level of tolerance to be good, as long as it was a mean between the extremes of toleratin...

Decadence and "Liberal Rot"
Is there such a thing as cultural "decadence"? And does decadence take the form of "weakness" or "softness" as some appear to believe? Are attitudes such as kindness, compassion and empathy signs of decadence? Or are they good traits that ought to be nurtured and foster...

Re: Faith: Difficult but Necessary?
Well, I'm a "he," actually. A "chap," as you say...and I try to live up to the term "reasonable." But thanks. Yes. You are generally reasonable. I apologize for having been dismissive. Very honourable of you to say. Thank you. It's all good, Gary. You're just fine with...

Re: Christian Civilization -- The Central Issue
The trinity represents the three manifestations of God. The Father is God separate and beyond the world. The Son is God within others. The Holy Spirit is God within yourself. That's also how I understand the Trinity from how a Pastor at the church I attended off and on for a while explained it to m...

BTW, I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t‘ve had this same discussion with IC. He/she seems like a very reasonable chap. Well, I'm a "he," actually. A "chap," as you say...and I try to live up to the term "reasonable." But thanks. Yes. You are generally reasonable. ...
