Re: JK Rowling vs. History

Given that it is self-evident that gender is different from race, species, etc. ... That's what people say when they have no argument . It's also what people say when asked to justify something which is self-evident. You are right, it isn't an arguement, but here's the thing: it only works when eve...

Re: JK Rowling vs. History

Here's the center for suicide prevention, which we can be reasonably sure is not motivated by being "anti trans." Check the graphic on the first page, for a glimse. Then go looking around at what other sites say, just to satisfy yourself. https://www.suicideinfo.ca/resource/transgender-people-suici...

Re: JK Rowling vs. History

I think you'll find the rate of suicidal ideation among "trans" types is about 43% before transtion, and actually marginally higher after transition. suicidal ideation among "trans" types is about 43% before transition This is possible but meaningless without the context of a control. Is suicidal i...

Re: JK Rowling vs. History

The suicide rate before and after "transition" is statistically identical I think you'll find that that is a lie made up by the anti-trans camp. Yes, the aged and the disabled are such a burden on the rest of us. If only there were a clever way that put an end to the problem—a final solution ...

Re: JK Rowling vs. History

The suicide rate before and after "transition" is statistically identical I think you'll find that that is a lie made up by the anti-trans camp. The evidence that transitioning helps trans people to be happy is very clear. Prove that they're "false" equivalences. Given that it is self-evident that ...

Re: JK Rowling vs. History

... what argument that works (for you) for transsexualism does NOT work for transracialism, or transabilism or transspeciesism? I am not making or defending any "argument for transexualism" in the abstract. All I would say here is that there are people whose path to contentment lies through some ki...

Immanuel Can wrote: Tue Jul 20, 2021 9:31 pm How is "race" a different case from "gender" in "trans" matters?
The same way that they are different in other matters. Why do you think that race and gender are the same "in trans matters"?

No running away now.

Re: JK Rowling vs. History

My point is that whatever principle we use to decide the basic "transsexual" cases will be the same principle we use for "transracial," "transabled" and "transspecies" cases, because the arguments are all the same. I don't believe the arguments are the same. Gender identity is not the same as race ...

Bumping this: A sad tale indeed that has almost nuthin' to do with delusional men believin' they're women. Schinegger was/is a hermaphrodite: his transition was corrective, not mutilatin'. Are you saying that Schinegger was not delusional when he believed he was a woman, Henry? If you are then how a...

So you think Rachel Dolezal can't be black, people who "transable" themselves are ... what? Mentally ill? Or just fine? And you think you can identify as a salmon or a rhodedendron? I'm happy to answer any of those questions if you want to raise them in other threads. This one is about JK Rowling a...
