"Do the people of the US want a court that's wrong 50% of the time?"

No, we just want a fair one.

Agency is not rooted in randomness, but in intent, deliberation, and action.

As for my 'reasons': I got 'em, but they ain't exactly the same as your 'causes'.

Here's the thing: Crom doesn't care if you think He's necessary or not, real or not. Crom is quite content (in a brooding sort of way) to let you go about your business, thinking what you like, doing what you like, letting you sink or swim. In fact: goin' about your business is what He expects from ...

'I choose my own paths.'

And I'm utterly responsible for my choices, responsible for my responses to circumstance.

Belinda, So, because 'free will' as uncaused is nonsensical, you reject your own on-going experience of being a self-director, yeah? # Walker, The flaw is 'because you had to'. I don't have to... ...have the next cuppa coffee. ...the next cigarette. ...the next angry moment with a family member. ......

I'm not aware of the NRA formally lobbying for gun manufacturers though I can see why it might seem that way. Again: the NRA promotes responsible gun ownership and use. Only natural then the organization should rub shoulders with manufacturers. But, let's say the NRA gets significant funding from gu...

"Well, does freewill necessitate an absolute right and wrong?" No, but it suggests the possibility, which can't be abided by the deterministic crowd. # "One doesn't need to be rid of freewill to accomplish exoneration." No, but abolishing makes exoneration a damn sight easier. If the determinist can...

"Who are you addressing?" All the folks who think human industry is directing/ruining the climate. These folks -- based on nuthin' -- would have me believe human industry is the ruination of everything. These folks would have us retreat to thatch huts. My arsenic example is the summation of their st...

"They need to be rid of god and have no other theory to support the idea of freewill." Mebbe so. I think the answer is closer to home, though. Responsibility (the lack of) often goes hand 'n hand with denials of free will. I'm thinkin' the anti-free willers are (desperately) lookin' for some kind of...

Okay, now that that's all cleared up...

Free will (choosing, self-direction) is (as) real (as the nose on your face).

Your experience of yourself in the world confirms this.

So: why do so many here deny what they know in their bones is true?

Human-driven climate change is all about the gigatons of carbon human industry has released into the atmosphere, which itself has an estimated mass of 5.15 × 106 gigatons, yes? I'm tryin' to point out that it's not 'education' but 'reason'.

Reason can be sharpened and tempered, but if a body doesn't have it to begin with no amount of educating (formal or informal) will matter.
