Re: Can Science Explain Consciousness?
Regarding the following article, http://forum.philosophynow.org/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=22495&p=323024#p322482 , this text from the U.S. Supreme Court reflects the current prevailing secular Weltanschauung: “Our precedents "have respected the private realm of family life which the state c...

Re: Anxious Idleness
The author's first paragraph states: "The unique spell of forced leisure imposed by Covid notwithstanding, it is a truth universally acknowledged that we lack sufficient leisure. We lead busy lives and wish that this were less the case. When considering why, the obvious initial answer is that o...

Re: Et In Arcadia Ego
The article is fascinating and timely for me because I recently wound up in a nursing home (where I now reside) where most of the residents suffer from dementia. A retired lawyer, I'm here because of diabetes, not dementia, or any other cognitive impairment, other than the normal slowdown in cogniti...

Re: Christian Atheism
The New Testament is composed of several gospels, of which only few gospels remains in edited form in todays Bible. Non-canonical gospels, like the gospel of Judas, Mary Magdalene amongst many others, were not canonized along with the gospel of Luke, Mark etc. These gospels were edited from their o...

Re: Our Duty to the Dead
The author claims that the duty is derived from our good will, or the moral law within us. The moral law is universal and rational, following Kant and Aristotle ( an "inner voice").
Does anyone disagree with this basic natural law argument?.
