I read the book when I was a teenager and found it deeply moving.
I also like the Robin Williams/DeNiro movie from the story.

Re: Hi there!

Thanks for the welcome. Just intro here. Happy to discuss other thoughts on the forum. From where in the quote above do you get avoiding? You posted; "I believe we create our own reality from our thoughts and actions" This invites discussion as it is a common hot topic in philosophy. I responded to...

Whats a "cheek mucker"?
Perhaps if there were an emoticon for that? It's hard to see a "cheek mucker" from here.

Care to link me? that those with no jobs might actually be willing themselves to have jobs and doing the best they can about it, or that those with no food may actually be thinking "I wa...

Re: Hi there!

I believe we create our own reality from our thoughts and actions. In which case, shall I assume that you are beautiful (by common local standards), are unaffected by gravity, in perfect health, have 'true' friends and lovers, are wealthy, never having to work or do that which is unpleasant? Find a great and diverse (most healthy) buffet of food for thought on the net.
Screw Google, use Scroogle!
Research the double-slit experiment (and the results).
Ponder the philosophical implications...

I glanced at it.
'Free-will' and 'choice' are vain illusions.
But there are those who eat up the 'self-help' books.

Perhaps a few hours spent studying the writings on this site might be of value before diving in?

Good luck.

Hi, I have a philosophy on life and i wrote a book about it. I never studied Philosophy. Out of all the philosophers Socrates is my man. You don't sound that old. Without having studied philosophy, how is it that you know of "all the philosophers", out of which to perceive Socrates as "your man"? I...
