I recommend a bril...

Solitude is a great thing, but not too much of it.

I get annoyed when I can't get peace and quiet to read or relax. I envy those people you see standing on the train, reading a book with an iPod plugged in - how do they do that?

Welcome on board :D I was in Port Augusta and Coober Pedy last March, you're right about the loneliness and heat. The landscape is good for deep thought too

It was love that finally settled me in Sussex though, the loveliest corner of England. You've got a very successful county cricket team too, which I can't help being jealous about as a lancastrian. Yes, Chris Adams and the boys have been great. It's a shame no-one watches the cricket much at Hove, ...

Hi Xenophon, Yes, Queen's is very good indeed; I had a great time there and have met many friends through the university. But tell me, what is it that has made you emigrate to Sussex? Do you miss the fair fields of Antrim? I reached Sussex via many other places over the years, it wasn't the weather...

Hi Thomas,

I'm an County Antrim man myself, I've been exiled to Sussex for years now. I'm sure you had a great time up in Queens, a great university.

Welcome

Hi TheJanus,

Thanks for the advice. I'm probably going to do it. I've registered for Feb 2009, so have a whole year to see how other things pan out. I left Uni back in '99, but miss the books, the study etc.

Cheers

Season's greetings

Hi all, I am a British bloke from Sussex, who is seriously thinking about studying Philosophy at postgrad level. Any advice would be welcome, I am currently debating whether I should study with the Open University - I can't attend a full or part time Uni course, I work abroad a lot. I'm looking forw...
