Re: Consciousness is not the property of a Brain.

So is it true to say : I am not conscious but a manifestation of consciousness ? As the body / mind that is me is an illusion as only consciousness itself is real I only think I am real because the illusion is so powerful it can be hard to deny This may very well be true but as I said before it is ...

Re: Perception and Consciousness

I think that I need more time to become familiar with the concept of consciousness and what it really is But I am becoming more detached over time which is compatible with the notion of all reality as illusion Consciousness, the very thing you are can be thought of as the Empty Container. Take a lo...

Re: WHY DO YOU THINK WE ARE HERE? WHY DO WE EXIST?

I know this is a basic question! But why our we here, most people go through there lives not questioning the reason why? People like us have ideas, views an urge to understand what this is all about? Do you think we are ever going to find the answer? Because formless Source as infinity wanted to ex...

Re: Perception and Consciousness

Listen, you are the one that says consciousness is an emergent of the brain, so what are we talking about now? the brain or consciousness? If I hit you over the head with a baseball bat you will become unconscious. So I reasonably suspect your consciousness and your brain are interlinked... Of cour...

Re: Perception and Consciousness

Which is merely an appearance and cannot perceive itself... It is not perceiving itself. It is perceiving another brain. There are 8 billion humans on this planet. There are 8 billion minus 1 brains to be perceived. If 7 999 999 999 people have brains then chances are you do to. And not one of them...

Re: Perception and Consciousness

The appearance of a brain is never a unicorn, it's always a brain ...that's like saying an apple is an orange. Concepts are fixed in that respect, the concept apple can never be the concept orange..so what are you trying to prove now with this ridiculous statement? Let's hear it Mr Logik? Let's sta...

Re: Perception and Consciousness

Which are mere appearances and doesn't prove anything Well what do you expect a brain to appear like? A unicorn? The appearance of a brain is never a unicorn, it's always a brain ...that's like saying an apple is an orange. Concepts are fixed in that respect, the concept apple can never be the conc...

Re: Perception and Consciousness

It's just funny that everyone reverts back to a metaphysical brain that according to some concept is somehow responsible for creating consciousness..and everything else. Where IS this brain occurring? If everything I'm perceiving is being perceived in a brain then where is this brain? Another solip...

Re: Perception and Consciousness

How do you know that consciousness is a by-product of the brain? I don't have any knowledge. It's just funny that everyone reverts back to a metaphysical brain that according to some concept is somehow responsible for creating consciousness..and everything else. Where IS this brain occurring? If ev...

Re: Perception and Consciousness

I am a model-dependent realist. Ever heard of systems/complexity theory? The concept of emergence? Consciousness is an emergent property of brains. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QItTWZc7hKs An object like a body or brain cannot perceive itself. Sure. But consciousness can. That is why it's an eme...

Re: Perception and Consciousness

If you are a materialist then you BELIEVE based on a concept that everything we experience is happening in a brain. So then where is the brain occurring? In the body? But if your body and everything is happening in a brain, then where is this brain occurring? Consciousness does not occur in a brain...

Re: Perception and Consciousness

But WHERE is the perceiving happening? It's not happening in a brain. If you say so. It's national no-quackery day today. So I'll just exercise abstinence from engaging further. If you are a materialist then you BELIEVE based on a concept that everything we experience is happening in a brain. So th...

Re: Perception and Consciousness

It's metaphysical question. There is No Body perceiving. No Thing is perceiving. Logic is metaphysics. Metaphysics is logic ( https://philpapers.org/archive/ALVLIM-3.pdf ) Logic doesn't have any semantics for asking questions. Logic only allows for formulating propositions. So if you can't ask ques...

Perception is an illusion. Who is doing the perceiving?
Asking WHO is an ontological question.

Ontology is an illusion in an entangled universe.
It's metaphysical question. There is No Body perceiving. No Thing is perceiving.

Re: Perception and Consciousness

Would anyone like to have a discussion about that part of consciousness we call 'perception'? I believe that perception is an activity and that we are much more like an artist creating our conscious experience than we are mere receivers of our conscious experience. This is contrary to, among others...
