Re: Which would you choose?
That's interesting. I didn't know that. It's been a while since I read some of Stace's descriptions of how mystics describe "oneness" with God. Well... I guess everyone describes it differently... often there is a mention of bliss and peace, but I think it is important to understand that ...

Re: Which would you choose?
That's certainly possible too. Or perhaps we become unified with God in a oneness. A lot of mystics have talked about "oneness" with God. I don't know what it means but it seems to be an interesting trend that, according to Walter Stace, appears in many cultures. In a mystical sense, onen...

Re: Which would you choose?
In the end, it would be nice to be one big happy family in an afterlife. Where all of us are made morally whole again after the various fortunes of existence have taken their toll. Sure, would be nice... but I doubt this will happen to the individual person (otherwise heaven would be filling up fas...

Re: Which would you choose?
That's a good question. How do we know God is the God of the Deists or Bible or Koran or any of that stuff? Maybe God's justice isn't what we think it is. And maybe it's not something we would want. I think if God is the master or supreme ruler of everything that is, then I would think whatever God...

Re: Which would you choose?
My answer: Personally, I think I would choose for there to be a God. The reason for that is that I want there to be divine justice. I don't think I trust human justice to truly be justice. And I feel like I want there to be justice in the world. Your idea of "divine justice" might not at ...

Re: Simulation or Divine Reality? - evidence of God\'God'
What do you mean by separate "I" and "self" ? ------ the "I", the "'think" and the ""I have consciousness" - as per my statement, are not seperate to the "self" - surely you would infer, that "self", is just pure consciousne...

RCSaunders: The correct premise is, I am conscious of something therefore both my consciousness and that which I am conscious of exist and are not the same thing. attofishpi: I think the correct premise would be, I think therefore I have consciousness. Anything perceived beyond that consciousness, ...

Re: I am who I am
I do not know what, "'world/universe' these thoughts seem to create," means. How does a thought create anything material? It doesn't create anything material - that there is anything "material" is itself just an idea. First, A thought is not an image. I think you are using the w...

Re: I am who I am
You keep using the word, "conceptual," while ignoring the fact that concepts are held consciously, and are part of human consciousness. Perception is the total of an animal's consciousness--it is only conscious of whatever it is currently perceiving. Human consciousness includes all that ...

Re: I am who I am
The analogy of a camera is good. I've used it myself. Consider a television camera. All it is able to, "capture," is every point of light being reflected, transmitted, or produced by whatever is being photographed. At the television all that is reproduced is every point of light in the ex...

Re: Do thoughts affect reality?
So you will be ABSOLUTELY CLEAR, when I say; 'I do NOT have ANY beliefs', then this means from that time when I chose NOT to have ANY beliefs, until the time I then chose to have ONE BELIEF, and then FOREVER AFTER. So what exactly is this "ONE BELIEF" that you believe to be true right now...

Re: I am who I am
I'm only going to address this, because it contains an assumption that I think everything you are saying is based on. That assumption is that perception. "is," or, "includes," or is, "the result of," some kind of, "information." I am actually not assuming tha...

Re: Do thoughts affect reality?
Or, how do adult human beings HEAR what their babies are SAYING? These adults OBVIOUSLY can NOT understand the "words" that come out. Now, the EXACT SAME principle applies to ALL parents of new born babies, they do NOT understand ONE "word" that comes out of a new born babies mo...
