Re: proposition (1)

By mind, I mean the essence of any being/thing with the ability to experience and cause. Sounds a lot like what I would call consciousness (even it doesn't "do" anything as you seem to propose), but if you prefer to call it "mind".. ok.. I have an argument for the existence of mind: Consider a chan...

Re: proposition (1)

I experience thoughts. Agree (but, if you actually look you will find that: the one that thinks he/she experiences thought is also just a thought - in truth, the experiencer can not be found) My mind. So thought experiences thought? Or is what you call mind more than just a collection of thoughts? ...

No, the mind is fundamental. Consciousness is a property of mind.
Can you observe thought or are you always lost in it?
If you can observe thought, then what is it that observes?

Re: proposition (1)

AlexW, what's the difference between mind and consciousness? They constantly co-exist. How do you separate the two? To me, "mind" is just a concept referring to the "collective" of thought - there really is no such thing as a mind, just one thought, then another etc etc. Thoughts arise in conscious...

Re: proposition (1)

All our deeds, emotions, thoughts, creeds – and whatever else we are trying to relate ourselves with – are expression of Consciousness which exercises its possibilities in order to realise itself. I don't think consciousness has a goal or a plan - as I see it, it's not doing anything, but it simply...

Re: You cannot stop thinking

Sit in a chair in a still, quiet room, for one hour. Just sit there and don't move and don't think. You will find it impossible to remain thought free for more than ten seconds. This is the equivalent of driving a car with no brakes. The only time there is PEACE (OF MIND) is when you CRASH each nig...

Re: Ultimate Reality

every conscious perception I have is the conscious experience of matter. There is nothing else to perceive. Well... if "all is matter" then you could as well say "all is consciousness" or "all is gobbledygook". "Matter" becomes a meaningless word if there is nothing but it (not that this is so wron...

Re: Does absolute truth exist?

I would say that absolute truth does exist but it will remain for ever unknown to us As we just do not have the capacity to understand anything in such profound terms For something to be "absolute" it would have to have no opposite - it would have to be all encompassing, infinite and eternal. It wo...

Re: Ultimate Reality

Reality must have some attributes even if they cannot be defined because it is all that exists Now what the actual nature of it is is another matter entirely but it has to exist in some form Well, yes, agree, "something" exists... But aren't all attributes only a conceptual interpretation of this e...

Re: Ultimate Reality

Thoughts are only regarded as non material because of the subjective interpretation of what constitutes material Agree But this is true not only for thought, it is true for everything (material / non-material included) - its always only "subjective interpretation" In reality there is no such distin...

Re: Ultimate Reality

It is obvious that material existence is not all that exists, but everything else that exists (the non-material) only exists as the product of the human mind How do you know this is not also true for "material existence"? Have you ever directly experienced matter? Or is there simply, what we call t...

Re: Do what you will

No, it's not a misnomer - ''Self-awareness'' is knowledge KNOWN Knowledge and knowing are one and the same. When it’s raining there is rain, when there is rain it’s raining... Two aspects of one. Knowledge is, knowing is, but there is no knowledge known - the rain is not doing the raining - there i...

Re: Do what you will

Self & Will are not the same, but when they complement each other a Self-awareness arises. As I see it, awareness is always here/now. But it is not awareness of a separate entity, not of a separate self - there is no awareness of separation - there is only conceptual thought that seems to create se...

Re: Do what you will

Being spontaneous Will manifests Self unadulterated Don't know what you are trying to say... can you please be a bit more specific? Maybe use a few more words linked into proper sentences... Also, you seem to contradict yourself: In your first post you place "Will" on the same level as the "Self" (...

Do your Will becomes more urgent than ever, as it overrides the restrictions of Dualism and thus enables Selfrealisation
I don't see how "Do your Will" could "enable Selfrealisation"...
Can you please elaborate?
