Re: What could make morality objective?
No, signs are real, physical things that we use as tools in many, various ways. The word 'dog' doesn't point to any deep or ineffable or unreal thing. And the delusion that there are deep, ineffable things - supposedly denoted by abstract nouns - that philosophy deals with has led to the inertia of...

More truth (that which reveals falsity) https://youtu.be/tXc6MeXqjJU?si=2cKkeuHE_U_hqVg1 What's the psychological process by which you become convinced that your randomly assembled gibberish is the answer to the world's (otherwise perhaps insoluble) problems, and there isn't a shadow of a doubt in ...

Re: What could make morality objective?
Okay. I can't remember how the indirect realism v transcendental idealism discussion developed - for which, apologies. I may have a look back and trace it. Indirect realism has already beaten transcendental idalism maybe a century ago of course, so this isn't anything new. I just didn't know accura...

Re: What could make morality objective?
Has this Wittgenstein guy ever said anything substantial, anything groundbreaking? It's a pretty bad sign when you start arguing against your former philosophy, if you don't get philosophy right the first time, chances are you won't get it right the second time either. Okay. There's no need to give...

Re: The Soundness [???] of Godel's Argument for God
History keeps repeating itself. None of this is new: You can't wake a person who is pretending to be asleep. Moreover, no effort that I make will produce any effect upon him if he is merely pretending sleep. Last but not least, it is not even my job to wake you. That decision can only be made by ou...

Re: The Soundness [???] of Godel's Argument for God
The proof may execute flawlessly, but it's just meaningless word salad when we try to make sense of it philosophically. It doesn't mean anything. History keeps repeating itself. None of this is new: Say, “Indeed, I bring a flawless proof from my Lord—yet you have denied it. I do not have that for w...

Re: The Soundness [???] of Godel's Argument for God
Most philosophers accept the Godel's Ontological Argument is Unsuccessful; The Godel ontological argument has garnered quite a bit of attention in the last fifty years. In most cases, philosophers have agreed that the argument is unsuccessful but have disagreed vigorously over where exactly the fat...

I guess you also know the next 3 or so steps of the argument then.. good, we don't talk about those for various reasons

Re: Christian Civilization -- The Central Issue
Well, I'll skip ahead and say that humanity will of course never elect a benevolent global dictatorship. No wonder I'm without enthusiasm. Maybe a gene-modified superior humanity could do it, but that's kinda another species, not us.Alexis Jacobi wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 5:35 pm That was going to be the topic of my next post, Atla ….

Re: Christian Civilization -- The Central Issue
Not sure if investing into the Christian civilization is the best idea as major religions will eventually nuke each other into oblivion in most worldlines. What we need is a global unified dictatorship :) that will force good morals on people, whether they like it or not, irregardless of their relig...

Instead of switching to the worst religion in the world, I think it's better to actually act like a man. And then suddenly there will be plenty of faithful women in the West too.

My guess would be that one of the AIs received an update that makes them scour internet forums for whatever reason. Not machine learning, just search. There seems to be a roughly equal number of these bots in every subforum, maybe they are scouring every single topic.

Re: Let's talk about parallel universe...
Parallel universe is a real tricky topic, for example, whether it is " INDEPENDENT parallel universe " or " ALL-CONNECTED cross universe" ,etc.... All jokes aside, the all-connected cross universe topic is pretty high level philosophy. Where even the human mind is a complex mult...
