Re: Why is nazism popular today?

Agreed. I rather die of heroin addiction than submit to the love of Jesus Fuckingchrist. Not me! I'd rather escape to the supernaturalist majority. There are worse fates than superstition. For me to be superstitious would be for me to regress to what I was, and I could recover lost ground. Silly be...

Don't knock em till you tried em. For some people, that is all they have, or could ever had. You can make the same excuse for people who cling to superstitious versions of Christianity. Agreed. Quoted by Dubious: Gary Childless wrote: I don't know, but the universe seems like a very lonely and desolate place without some guarantee of ultimate justice and continuation of being after bodily death. As a matter of experienced fact the universe is a very desolate and lonely place. It's mens' ta...

Re: Morality

It's our moral duty to put on a happy face in the face of this pointless mindless ''where am I'' ''what I am'' ''I have no idea or concern for that'' doom scenario that is the fate of all sentient life. Ah... because there cannot be real happiness behind any happy face... it must be fake! Tha...

Re: What could make morality objective?

What I mean by freedom is the best freedom from all or each of those as got by means of reason powered by passion. Reason powered by passion is the proper default psyche of all human beings. Indeed. The human condition is shared in human experience. Failure of passion might be addressed by medical ...

But freedom is the aim that overarches partisans of passion and partisans of reason. Moderation between the two is good, psychologically. Politically there are tides in the affairs of men that call for more passion to avoid apathy. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/may/24/covid-19-has-...

I believe "messiah" means simply a priest-king sort of character who leads his people out of troubled times to better times. It does not necessarily signify any supernatural status.

Re: The Existential Crisis

Nowadays, witnessing the state of philosophy forums gives me more of an existential crisis than does my fear of nonexistence. How can I make the suffering go away? You can't without compromising your authenticity. What if I wipe my memories until they are empty echoes, nothing more? :) That too wou...

I like that, but for the distinction between fear and prudence. You are not a full blooded Romantic then? :D No I did not have a conception of change maybe not until I read "The Tao of Physics" a few decades ago. I did a feeling of change which grew and grew the older I became. I am now a socialist...
