Re: Talk About Unsung Heroes?

It's just an opinion of a person, one middle aged mother from Fukushima. Nothing more, nothing less. You can call a hero whoever you want. Honestly, I am tired of the American mentality. West makes heroes from war veterans and other army pawns, who killed dozens fellow human beings, and survived (ma...

Re: Why should we be guilty or responsible of our actions if free will is an illusion?

An absence of free will would not a be a good reason for failing to hold people responsible for their actions unless their actions were never influenced by fear of punishment or a sense of guilt. If there really were a total absence of free will, those who ran the judiciary system would not be free...

Re: Life in all its diversity!

I think that people have all kinds of reasons why they joined, and post, on this forum (or any other for the matter). I rather consider it as a part of life (unquestionably portion of the allotted time we have is spent/invested here). It's definitely not anything special, not another life. No need t...

Would you believe that God could be a 'God' - as in something akin to Artificial Intelligence AI that we evolved into aeons ago? - You know of SIN_AI (Mount Sinai) My site: http://www.androcies.com I enjoy browsing your website. The structure of navigation, artworks, your thoughts on various names ...

Re: RE: How are we pressured to consume in today's society?

Hello fellow Philosophy Now Members, I'm wondering what you guys have to say on the following issue: How are we pressured to consume in today's society? And do you consider current trends in purchasing too much or items which others may consider unnecessary to be unethical? Do you believe that adve...

Re: I KNOW 'God' exists ask me about it i experienced the TESTamenT

Your words can not, and will not testify God's existence. It's a waste of time to try, on this forum or anywhere else. Your presence, however, something in between the lines and words, can make one consider the idea that there is something more than flesh.... It happened to me with some people I met...

Re: Representative Governments

You made a good point. Similar situation has occurred in my country recently, and, considering the plurality of opinions in society and plethora of options, it is going to happen more and more often everywhere, in a scope of an election system where many candidates are reduced to two for a final vot...

Re: Is It Possible To Think Without Language?

Hi Hegel,
I personally always use language when thinking. It makes it more simple.
Now let's think about a very small child, who can't speak or understand a word yet. Can such a child actually think? Does it actually think?

Re: Should we listen to conscience?

Even if we analyze the situation carefully, the conscience plays a (major) role in this analysis of a situation. Conscious mind and conscience doesn't have the same word origin by chance. I think that ultimately person decides or feel (if we actually ever decide about anything) according to their co...

Re: Death and Living

Thank you for being totally honest and open in your post. Highly appreciated. I share some of your feelings, but I truly enjoy my everyday life, though. I believe it's possible to live in harmony with other people and other organisms. Think vegan diet, for example (I'm on that ). Also it's not true ...

Re: Why things evolve?

There is an agreement between scientist that each being/thing evolve as a matter of fit better in a situation. The fitness is allowed toward a better end because of random change in structure of any being/thing. I think that humans do not evolve recently, certainly not to the better. Maybe it's bec...

Re: The tie that saved Rome. Do Western nations need a State Religion?

Religions has divided, and always will divide, people. They will never unite us, if we talk about bigger scope, e.g. entire Europe, or entire world... I fully understand your concerns, and am in agreement with them. The situation is bad, and it is getting worse every day. We must definitely seek ans...

Re: ~ Using Drugs Should Not Be Considered Criminal Nor A Mental Illness ~

There are cultures that have a completely different outlook on natural drugs, for example shamanism (can be found in its purest way in the jungles of Peru). Since these cultures are considered poor from our Westerner point of view (that measures everything with money), we have no understanding for t...

When defining "spirituality", you may consider the origin of the expression, which is "spirit". Spirit came from latin word "spirare", which means something like breathing. Thus the Eastern connection of spirituality and breathing exercises/meditation, and a special con...
