I think that we place “Science” on too high a pedestal and thereby distort our comprehension of political and social problems. We cannot solve social and political problems like we solve the questions formed by the normal sciences. FINALLY!! Some common sense!! NO, we cannot solve social and politi...

Hi Aetixintro,
I'd be very dubious about making laws of nature infallible given the problem with Induction.

Thanks to you Jet, Looks a well useful book and I may well buy it. Funnily enough, judging by the sales blurb, what I don't understand is that you appear to understand it as an attack upon Technology. To me, so far, he has obviously taken advantage of what I'd call Appropriate Technology(as there's ...

I also think I get the idea of Entropy as being the possible Work lost due to the action of the harness in producing Work, i.e. Heat is l...

Re: Probabilistic theories and underdetermination
Hi Aetixintro ...reflections of gravity and other phenomena we never doubt. Whats a reflection of gravity? With respect to the underdeterminism and probability I'd essay a no, as, as far as I was lead to understand, "underdeterminism" in Phil of Sci is(was?) the problem that the experiment...
