Re: Looking for the Purpose of Life

Brian King says that life’s meaning is a question of purpose; but what is the purpose of human existence? https://philosophynow.org/issues/147/Looking_for_the_Purpose_of_Life There are many potential reasons for life. This makes the pupose for life ambiguous. The author writes, "Perhaps we’re ...

Re: The Evolution of Religion.

Can the human race, or the Great Beast in Plato's terms, evolve to a greater conscious understanding of Man's connection with its Source? To many there is no connection since it is all imagination. This thread deals with the human potential to consciously bypass the results of imagination with cons...

Re: more science v religion

Religion validates from the inside out; Science validates from the outside in. Religion is about faith and worship. Science is about the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment. Religion has an abstract foundation about existence. Science has a f...

Re: Praying to the Overgod

Sleep does not bring happiness. Only an unhappy man will get some relief. You are unhappy so you should get some sleep. You know nothing, absolutely zero zilch nothing about me. So on that note, I think you should just fuck the fuck off with your retarted opinion. I know that "hell berates&quo...

Re: Praying to the Overgod

Even the philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer born 22 February 1788 ..knew the hard cold truth of reality. Men have always known it. “Whatever one may say, the happiest moment of the happy man is the moment of his falling asleep, and the unhappiest moment of the unhappy that of his waking. Human life mu...

Re: The problem of evil

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven" Heaven is not on Earth according to the Bible. Fine. In a few generations we'll be off this planet. If we don't get off we already ...

Re: The problem of evil

There is no evidence that heaven exists. Whatever you say about "heaven" is conjecture. Does the future exist? Yes it does. Could the future turn out really terrible for humans? Yes it can. That's hell. Could the future turn out really great for humans? Yes it can. That's heaven. Our choi...

Re: The problem of evil

"an omnipotent (and "All-Knowing") Being, might actually have a logical reason for allowing evil to exist." Of course, but the logical conflict is this: if god is, as stated, 'omnipotent' - which means able to do and/or make happen whatever is logically possible (circulatory the...

I assume you mean what is taken to be knowledge.
Knowledge requires understanding. Misunderstanding precludes knowledge.

Re: a new definition of knowledge

But then just intelligence indicates a lot of cognitive processes. IOW experience is not enough , one has to do things with what one notices and lives. One must make a lot of choices, to repeat, to study, to compare, to contrast. There's pattern recognition. There is often mentoring which entails l...

All of those do a good job, but i think concurrence does the best work.
Knowledge can be contradictory and is many times only conjecture.

Believe what you want but I wouldn't call concurrence knowledge.

Walker wrote: Wed May 25, 2022 2:33 pm A woman loves her child more than a man loves his, because she knows for sure that it's her's.

Based on your knowledge and wisdom, what does this sentence mean to you?
It means that incognizant is unknowing and trust is often needed.

Re: Purpose?

in the case you speak of if you're living the life the source of life has given you, then how is it you wouldn't know the purpose of the life you're living. isn't the life you would be living the revelation thereof? Life doesn't reveal its purpose anymore than ghosts reveal their purpose. If you th...

Re: Purpose?

life is to live but there are many things that serve life, such as your body has the purpose of providing you a place to be in the earth, but life doesn't seem to serve the purpose of those who are alive seeing that life is being alive. therefore life isn't required to have purpose to be alive. The...
