Does a pregnant woman carry a human being/person or just 'life'/meat?

As I say: if this thread irritates, if I irritate, you're free to indulge yourself elsewhere. It's not the thread which irritates me. It's idiots like you who can't seem to accept the obvious...and in addition who keep on changing the title of the thread because he's too stupid or too damn lazy to ...

Really, guy, if this thread bothers you, if my 'simplistic' approach bothers you, then go play in another thread. There are dozens of 'em, all waitin' on you to drop your wisdom into 'em. There's no reason at all for you to waste a jot of your time in this thread, with me and my silly questions. Yo...

Re: Does a pregnant woman carry a human being/person or just 'life'/meat?

What pregnant woman carries is 'human'. All I'm askin': is it 'person' (human individual) or just 'meat' (just human cells)? Isn't the obvious, obvious enough for you yet? Nitty gritty, yes, the fetus is human in process of development and becomes a person when born (even if it doesn't know it yet)...

Re: Do you think life is more than a play of creativity?

If I feel naturally filled with gratitude and acceptance... how might the Universe and its energy/dynamic (or whatever connected web/spirit there is) flow through this energy/dynamic that I experience? I'm continually tantalized by countless experiences of profound synchronicity/unfolding as if suc...

Re: Do you think life is more than a play of creativity?

By that I mean... is human life significant beyond the human experience of it? How can it be since only humans have experience of it? "Beyond" seems superflous here. Does human life have eternal repercussions? I can't think of anything so important about humans that their lives should have eternal ...

Nope! and that's the absolute truth; it never was, is or will be... the one aspect of truth which remains unchangeable.

Re: How does one answer Schopenhauer’s critique of the cosmological argument ?

Classical theists make the argument for God from the contingent to the absolute, or from the conditioned to the unconditioned, like Aquinas’s 3rd way.

A devotee of Schopenhauer, I imagine, would make 3 points.
1) You cannot apply our notions of causality beyond physical reality. 20th century sc...

Re: How can I reach certainty about some things and obtain peace of mind?

Nothing is certain of anything which was ever written or thought. There's only a greater of lesser probability of it being so. Why should this disturb my "peace of mind" and what piece of that would it be? Suppose the problem isn't thought? A person must try a new approach. Sometimes a good piece o...

Re: Why the Ramana Maharshi model for humanity is flawed.

The Perennial philosophy confirms that there is nothing for the individual after death, which can be somewhat depressing. All the memories and experiences of this human will be lost, and it's all pretty meaningless anyway. It's not the least bit sad and no need for anyone to be depressed about deat...

Re: Art and Soul

Tolstoy, though a great writer, had nothing intelligent to say about art. In fact he could be quite stupid about it! But then he did turn into a rabid theist which would explain it! Many years of pondering on questions of aesthetics and the place of art in life resulted in the pamphlet What is Art? ...

Re: Art and Soul

Art was once and not too long ago an intense polarity leading from the mundane to the exceptional and from there to the sublime. Most of this has disappeared. What now serves to enhance emotion is of a far more vulgar kind called sports because it's only that stupid shit one hears about incessantly....
