Re: (0=0)=(1=1)
In the exact same breath you say the conclusion doesn't follow, and YET you accept the argument as a valid proof of negation. If you accept the premise, which I don't, then it follows. The point is that his argument is flawed in more than one way. It's not merely that one of the premises of his arg...

Re: (0=0)=(1=1)
Considering truth is existence and numbers exist then truth is reducible to a number as truth and number are tied together by the underlying quality of existence both share. Well, truth isn't exactly existence. Truth is a true belief i.e. a belief that corresponds to the portion of reality it refer...

Re: (0=0)=(1=1)
The numbers 1 and 0 can equivocate through a simple act of measurement: 1. There is only the totality, ie everything. 2. As there is only the totality this totality is 1. 3. However considering there is only the totality there is no comparison for it necessary for it to take form thus it is 'void' ...

Re: (0=0)=(1=1)
Have you ever heard of dependent types ? One can trivially stratify true and false as 1 and 0. Very useful if you want a system closed under equality. Is someone paying you to do this? Or are you simply unaware? Threads can be started that either intentionally or unintentionally promote equivocatio...

Re: 2+2=5
It's not equivocation! It's polymorphism . The meaning of the operator "+" changes depending on what it operates on. 1 + 1 = 2 when operating on apples. 1 + 1 = 1 when operating on averages. Before you can determine whether any given claim is true or false, you have to properly understand...

Re: (0=0)=(1=1)
What does (0=0)=(1=1) mean? I suppose that it means "The truth value of 0=0 is equal to the truth value of 1=1". If so, the truth value of "0=0" isn't "0" but "true"; and the truth value of "1=1" isn't "1" but "true". Thus, true=...

Whereas the crazies represent the majority of posting at ILP, while normal folks like Keter Propotkin are very few there. I agree with the above up to the point when you mention Keter. Keter is far from being a normal folk. Posters to avoid here: Henry Quirk Age Trokenmariel Attofishpi Promethean75...

Re: Is Food Art?
Is this what art is , then? Judgement and value? And anything which can be judged and valued can be considered art? If art is anything that is assessed for its value, then pretty much everything is art. And I'm pretty sure you will agree that's not the case. My surgeon is not a piece of art even th...

Re: 2+2=5
By telling me that I am taking something "out of context" you implicitly hold some range of Universes (or perhaps even some particular universe) as being THE "correct" Universe for evaluating "2+2". If that's your cup of tea, you are more than free to define existing m...

1. You have 1 line. 2. This line is divided by a 0d point. 3. The resulting line is 2 lines in one. All fine by me. 4. You have 1 line. 5. The line is divided by 2 0d points. 6. The resulting line is 3 lines in one. That's fine by me as well. 7. Division by a 0d point (0) is equal to x+1 with x equ...

Re: 0=1
I think you are confusing the Euclidean dimensionless point with the number 0 itself. A dimensionless point is nothing thus 0. If something is dimensionless, it does not mean it's nothing. Colors are dimensionless, for example, but they aren't nothing. Smell is dimensionless but it isn't nothing. C...

Can you define "the meaning of life"?
I'd say Veritas gave the best answer so far.
