Re: Help Me Out On This One...

If you'll forgive me being British for a moment, you guys over the pond have a lot of problems, maybe Im out of line on this one but as far as I can tell every problem you have comes from the start of your country and the foundation of your government. Hear me out. I know a lot of people that origin...

Re: Is God in hiding?

Depends which god you're talking about but in relation to Abraham's god. I read an interesting theory a while back. That god doesn't see days the way we do for an ageless immortal entity a day would be meaningless. So god's days are 750 million years each. 6 x 750 million = 4.5 billion. Day 1 So the...

Re: Man creates God creates Man

I think this is an interesting view. I like where you write "Humans exist. Large number of humans believe in specific god. This causes god to come into existence." But I didn't understand where you write "not held by the same laws our plane of existence is bound by." What do you mean by this? That'...

Man creates God creates Man

OK so how does this strike you. One of my core beliefs is the power of the mind. And within that belief here is how I see gods and the creation of humanity. Humans exist. Large number of humans believe in specific god. This causes god to come into existence. God exists. Not held by the same laws our...

Ciao ! 8) What do you mean by 'not really got any qualifications in philosophy'? Have you studied it academically within another course, or what? Who do you usually discuss the big topics with? What are you favourites to ponder? Welcome to the only place in town where you can talk about anything yo...

Re: Why would God harden Pharaoh's heart against the Jews?

Each time, first a plague, then Pharaoh would agree to let the Jews go, but then God would harden his heart. Why? The point to those plagues was to convince Pharaoh it wasn't in his/Egypt's interest to keep the Jews around. Was God playing around? PhilX well OT god was a hard ass. But its things li...

Re: Is Eve a good example of women being curious?

The only thing that story and a lot of religious stories like that say to men's that men had a good understanding of how it worked centuries ago and yet we still haven't figured out how to stop women having all the power lol. Here's the bit of dialogue left out of the bible. Eve " Adam if you don't ...

Re: What is human (i.e. homo sapiens) nature?

The term, nature, is so broad and vague that I think it renders the question a nonquestion. You may may hold a difference of opinion and, if so, we would like to know your thoughts. PhilX Kill everything, blow up what it doesnt understand, and subjugate anything it could use. +1 Going on what's see...

Re: Time travelling is impossible.

So back on topic, I agree a little with OP. If Hitler had originally lived then some one came back and killed him then we "the us of the current time period) would not see a change. Because for us it hasn't happened yet. So we create the future. The then predetermined future known by the traveller w...

Hola!

Hey,

I'm mesoraven from Manchester/doncaster UK. Not really got any qualifacations in philosophy. I work as an outdoors activity instructor. But always find myself thinking about and discussing the big topics. So thought I'd find somewhere I can talk to some like minded people.
