Re: Questions for Buddhists.
Let me clarify, the game is explaining "nirvana" in a scientific manner , the rules are as I prescribed. So far you are failing the game. It's meaningless, Nirvana is not scientific, and only a fool would ask that it be explained in those terms. There is no scientific explanation of Nirva...

No, I am not going to look at these links. If you cannot make your point simply, that is the end of the discussion for me.qsa wrote:Well maybe this will help.

Re: Are the Three Laws of Logic correct?
It depends on what? What distinction you make between 'conscious thinking' and 'thinking'? That is not a distinction I made or make; it is a distinction you are suggesting. Now, in your opinion, is or isn't thinking going on that is not conscious while asleep? An answer to that does not depend on a...

Re: Are the Three Laws of Logic correct?
You questioned my premise that conscious thinking is not the only thing that is going on. Well actually I just asked for an example. It seems to me that, if you differentiate between conscious thinking and thinking, then you are already well aware that conscious thinking is not the only thing going...

Re: Measurement: a math mystery
What is it that determines the distance between two points (say along a straight line). Suppose arbitrarily the two points are three inches apart. Counting the number of points in between is no good because no matter what the distance, there are always the same number of infinite points in between....

Re: Time travelling is impossible.
I don't know if time travelling is possible, or if it will ever be possible, but what I know is that if that would ever be possible, we would never be able to know that. For a simple reasoning of mine: if time travelling would be possible, we should already be able to know that. I think right now, ...

Re: Non-Truth and Non-finality
You signal that we are in a word game when you say you are pursuing an inquiry. Before you can meaningfully pursue any inquiry, you must ground the act of inquiry itself. What is an inquiry? what is a question? What is a question? is first and foremost a statement, simply because what? is a questio...

Re: Are the Three Laws of Logic correct?
Any conscious thinking going on while sleeping? Depends, what difference do you have between conscious thinking and thinking? You questioned my premise that conscious thinking is not the only thing that is going on. It seems to me that, if you differentiate between conscious thinking and thinking, ...

Re: Good philosophy vs bad philosophy
I can't think for the life of me how propaganda could possibly come into what I have written. I'm hoping you'll explain that. I'll try. First off: There IS a boundary between self and other and a very obvious one! So your foundation is a fallacy. Secondly: The foundations of altruistic morality lie...

Re: Good philosophy vs bad philosophy
What is good philosophy and what is bad philosophy? Can you give examples of both kinds? PhilX Good philosophy is ethical in nature. It begins from a realisation that there is not actually a boundary between self and other. It is the understanding that, even if you adopt a self / other mode of expr...

Re: Exercises for the Mind & Body
The mind-body connection means that you can learn to use your thoughts to positively influence some of your body’s physical responses, thereby decreasing stress. If you recall a time when you were happy, grateful or calm, your body and mind tend to relax. Yes, indeed. The mind and body can actually...

Re: The Consciousness Spectrum
There is the conscious and only the conscious for the so called unconscious or subconscious does not actually exist. But the reason why it is assumed to however is because consciousness is regarded as being subject dependent and not brain dependent. Which is a demonstrably false position as the bra...

1) The Law of Identity - An apple is an apple 2) The Law of Non-Contradiction - an apple is not a non-apple 3) The Law of Excluded Middle - it is either true or false that I just ate an apple Can any of these be shown to be correct without referring back to them to do it? These "laws" ref...
