Would this be creepy or interesting?

Post by terenkleon »

My story (set in an ancient empire) starts when my main character is 17ish and ends when she's about 23. Her mentor is a man (late 30's at the start, early 40's at the end) who is legendary for starting a revolution, and she is enamored with him. She admires him, wants to be like him, and is attracted to him, though the attraction is more of a fascination as opposed to her being in love or wanting to get with him. He takes her under his wing and is fond of her but in more of a father/daughter way; she reminds him of himself when he was younger and he thinks she has a lot of potential, but isn't attracted to her in that way (he loves a woman closer to his own age).
Throughout the story, the main character becomes involved with men her own age as well and begins to see that her mentor is a flawed human being just like everyone else, but to the end of the story she retains a deep love for him (again, she's not in love with him in a romantic way necessarily) which is more prominent than her love for any other character. The story does leave off with romantic love blossoming between her and a man her age though.

So, is that weird or does it sound interesting?
