I don’t see a joke there. It seems to rely on Descartes’s “cogito” being taken as a statement about the necessary conditions for any existence. But that isn’t how Descartes
intended the cogito to be taken, and nor is it how anyone I know has taken it.

He was a brilliant mathematician and concurrently one of the dumbest philosophers in all of Western history.
