''The philosophy one holds depends upon the kind of man
one is'' I find this an interesting remark...
Now whether this is true or not, I don't know...
but let us run this out and see what we get...
for I believe in the role that chance and randomness play in our lives...
we live in a chaotic universe... but not totally chaotic, just partial
chaotic... it means that the certainty that people look for, isn't really
there for me...there are no absolutes in my universe... no black
and white, but shades of gray...and that is the rock I build my
philosophy on.... I don't believe that 1 + 1 = 2... for what we
have is really one stick and one stick and the combining of these
separate sticks into the number 2, doesn't exist... and why?
because the plus sign, + is really something that exists in our minds...
not in reality...and we make this type of connections all the time...
the = sign for example is an imaginary sign... 1 + 1 = 2....
this equal sign doesn't exist in the real world.. it is a figment of
our imagination... and build within the mind and no where else....
we teach, train, indoctrinate children into thinking that this plus sign,
+ and the equal sign, =... are real things in the universe... they aren't....
and that the phrase.. ''I am''... actually exists...but if we hold to extreme
doubt as Descartes did, then we too must doubt the phrase, ''I am''..
which leads us into doubting that because ''I am'', I also exists...
there is no logical, rational connection between ''I am'' and ''I exist''
for as Hume might have noticed, that we cannot take for granted
that the phrase ''I am'' is actually true... I might be a man dreaming,
I am saying ''I am'' and I might be a man who is dreaming that I exist,
I could just be a dream thinking that I exist in reality....
many have stated that philosophy began in wonder, I believe
that philosophy began in doubt... and that is the focus of
my beliefs... they reside in doubt, not certainty....
for what in reality can I be certain about?
indeed, what is certain in our lives?

Parmenidies disagreed. Zeno. Einstein and advocates of the block universe would probably disagree.
Two more contemporary physicists: Carlo Rovelli and Julian Barbour.
Probably others.
Doesn't mean their right. Just pointing out that most of us have certainties even those of us who think it's a bad idea.
And some are very certain we shouldn't be, can't be certain about anything.
