Afternoon Philosophy is Not philosophy

Take a look at all the philosophy prizes. They all require being an academic, being affiliated with an academic institution, having credentials, Havering been published, having been previously lauded, NONE of which has ANYTHING to do with the value of your ideas.

The best philosophical idea or set of ideas on Earth, ever, would be beneath contempt for them unless the philosopher was someone they respect for social reasons; integration, privilege, compliance.

Is this state of affairs a surprise to you?

Why would professional philosophers suppose that amateurs would be the source of the best quality philosophy?

If you saw on YouTube that the best surgeon in the world was an auto mechanic in your town, would you have him perform your surgery?

So do something about it; give a prize to an unknown, amateur philosopher. :|

They make the prizes because they have the resources. Their assumption that the system produces the best outcomes is self-serving and technically wrong.
