In general, life is the emergent attribute of biological complexity.
As long as it can maintain it's homeostasis it adapts and expands to use all available resources.

Because the size of a goldfish is determined by the size of its environment, as long as a human can maintain it's homeostasis, will it adapt and use all available resources to expand to couch size?
