And I don't mean a war. I mean disruptive change. I'm aware of areas that aren't generally known which are awaiting change. What holds back change?

Hunger and boredom.

A revolution will not happen, that has any effect, as long as people have a universal basic income that supplies them with fast food, porn, and video games.

Disequilibrium in societal categories eventually heading toward a showdown. The friction of one against the other.

Absolute and total desperation.
People have to be so oppressed, hungry and miserable that they don't care if they're shot down in the street, charged by cavalry, smoke-bombed, pepper-sprayed, beaten, disappeared, tortured, imprisoned for decades.
They have to feel things can't get any worse; that they have nothing to lose by trying to make things better.
Most revolutions are put down in a sea of blood; very few succeed - and even those have at least a 50-50 chance of bringing about a regime just as oppressive, just as violent, just as unfair, as the one they replaced.
It's not a light-hearted business, opposing an established rule that's got you outgunned 100-1 and is devoid of scruples.

What does it take to start a revolution? Technology; the way people interact with other people in the marketplace.

Having said that, you are right in the middle of the most disruptive revolution that mankind has ever seen; The third industrial revolution. The Digital Revolution!

How long until they get bored? And once they get bored, they turn into faggots, needing someone to fill the 3 holes they left in them.

Revolution is a collective motion in an intellectual society caused by anything we don't like.

"To believe in God is not a decision we can make. All we can do is decide not to give our love to false gods. In the first place, we can decide not to believe that the future contains for us an all-sufficient good. The future is made of the same stuff as the present...." ~ Simone Weil
Psychological change for the better is prevented by belief in false gods. The Great Beast or society itself has created many false gods which sustain the status quo. They are very persuasive. Only a truly horrible catastrophe would cause the survivors to question these false gods.
