It´s a sentimental song.
Some people like such things.

It´s disrespectful to laugh at them and to make fun of them.

If you want to enjoy cold cynicism then read New Yorker and such stuff.
Why should anyone bother to waste his or her attention on things that they don´t like and appreciate ? Just to have something to critisize ?

Peace.

That's why it's so funny.
It´s disrespectful to laugh at them and to make fun of them.
Exactly, disrespect is what I was trying to express.

It's not sentimental. It's mawkish and tasteless and stupendously creepy. And no one 'made fun' of anyone.
Y'all just have no sense of humour.

The song at the top of the thread is not sentimental, it is the embodiment of an ideological evil that has oppressed millions of people for two thousand years. It is an attempt to co-opt a person's natural tendency to familial loyalty for the purpose of social and political control.
You ought to be ashamed of yourself trying to defend this vile propaganda.

Nah I couldn't get it. Maybe not my sort of humour.

But you might like this one. I used to play it to my kids. Even now it still cracks me up. :)

Do you show them the 'censored version'? IN which the word "count" is bleeped out so can be replaced with a word of your own imagination?

I'm practising in case I ever meet someone I want to talk to.

I tried the avocados, by the way. Quite nice.

Lighten up Bradbury and get yourself a sense of humour.
