Pretty much every society retricts teenagers from having sex. So, there is suppression regardless of how society views gays and lesibians. Most societies do not want teenage parents.
But if a society wants less children...
Or if a society wants less children of particular groups, like, your race/ethnicity needs to go away...

Adn these restrictions were much stronger in the 50s than the late 60 and 70s. Were there more gays in the 50s?
And if they can be suppressed, then they would eventually regress under repression. They would be redirected...toward 'perversions'. Toward sex acts which do not reproduce. So then, why not sodomy? Why not two lesbians molesting each other? Why not transexuals? Why not sex with animals? Why not?
So in the 50s we had even more incidence of these things?
And those on the moral-Left, will have no answer, because they have no Morality, no Souls.
