And the reason those morons give their children those obnoxious names is because they see them as a future meal-ticket and they will do whatever it takes to get the kid noticed. I don't know about you, but I think it's wrong to exploit children.
Given you're watching the show I think you complicit and I have no idea how you know their reasons, but names like these are being given to kids all over the place, it's a new thing and so what.

[quote] I've never said I'm one or the other actually. I don't 'masquerade' as anything.
I'm 'aware' of a lot of things that I don't necessarily invest a huge amount of time in. People should be more aware don't you think? American child pageants are derided all over the world, for good reason, not least of all the garbage 'names' they give their children.
Ps, you really are an irritating twit when it comes to posting 'style'. Perhaps if you spent a bit more time actually thinking and learning to use the quote facility, and a lot less time dissecting comments you might start to resemble a 'philosopher'.

Except as someone who plays the name game with the other fruitloop.

They should, do you think you'll become aware of your chip about America?

What a snob you are and so what about the rest of the worlds opinion on such matters as they appear to love watching and paying for the show.

That's a laugh coming from you.

Try writing a paragraph that holds together and you'll get one back.

Is that the best you can do? You can't even write a paragraph. Did your parents put you in pageants? Is that why you are so touchy about your name?
As for being a 'snob', well to get any lower than pageant parents you would have to move underground. And you've have plenty to say about 'yanks' too. I suppose it's ok when you do it.

I thought that too. Americans don't age well--all that junk food. Those 'moms' pour diabetes-inducing sugar down their kids' throats to make them 'high' on stage. It's just child abuse. Imagine growing up with the name 'sparkal' or 'Alycesaundra'. They obviously take pride in being illiterate. There is a sort of horrified morbid fascination watching them though. Apparently it started with 'healthy baby' shows, but morphed into the monster it is now (a bit like how those girls end up morphing into their 'moms' lol).

I assume people in other countries age also and not always well. But I agree that a lot of American TV is utter garbage. Not sure how things are in other countries, however, here producers will almost literally produce anything if it will make a profit. The more profit the better. It's a wonder we just don't cut to the chase and show porn on the major network stations. The profits would be astronomical. But there would be outrage from church groups and other organizations so I guess child beauty pageants are the next best thing.

What are you talking about? You had an issue with the way I quote so I told you why I do it.
You can't even write a paragraph. ...
When it's needed I can scrape one out.
Did your parents put you in pageants?
No.
Is that why you are so touchy about your name?
Who's touchy? Feel free to use it as much as you like.

So you think them low-class and hate that they name their kids what they like but also resent how they are trying to better themselves, total snob. I'm guessing they spend more time with and give more attention to their kids than many in the classes above.

That you also watch the shows is just laughable.
And you've have plenty to say about 'yanks' too. I suppose it's ok when you do it.
Generally yes, as I do not spit the vitriol and obvious hate that you do as I do not have a chip on my shoulder about America or Americans per se. I use 'Yank' to identify a specific type of American not Americans in general as by and large I've liked every American I've met so far.

How exactly is that 'bettering' themselves? You think it's 'bettering' your child to dress a three year old in fishnets, black thigh boots and prostitute clothes, or Madonna's breast-cone outfit, or Dolly Parton--complete with fake boobs? There is something seriously wrong with you if you think that. Or spray them orange, with fake nails, teeth, eyelashes, and thick makeup, then pour sugar down their throats to make them 'perform better'. And yes, I do look down on illiterate child-abusers. Call me a 'snob' for that if you like. It's a pretty silly word to use in this context. I could call you a 'snob' because you think you are better than me since you only talk about 'a specific type of yank' and you aren't at all 'spiteful'. It's funny how we don't see ourselves as others do. Actually, you come across as very spiteful and up-yourself indeed.
