Martin Cohen says they get them the same sort of places as everyone else.

Philosophers... are often following up something they were told or read.
Some people certainly seem inclined to subscribe to established 'philosophy', rather than allowing their philosophy to evolve through ongoing observation and contemplation.

Subscribing to a particular philosophy seems little different than subscribing to a religion for which one will dismiss ALL ELSE to the contrary -- and that just doesn't make sense.

Philosophy shouldn't be static. Life and awareness are not meant to stand still... although people can try.

We may imagine ourselves as being at the pinnacle of knowing in our lives: 'NOW I know how things work! THIS is it!' When actually, you know what you know for today. Tomorrow might unveil more. There's nothing wrong with today -- just don't make it a rigid template for all of your tomorrows. 8)
