We cannot have a relationship with God
We cannot have a relationship with God
God is changeless. Relationship is about cause and effect. As an example, you do something to please another person (act), this act changes the person (effect), the person in reply does something to please you. This means that making relationship with God is impossible since we cannot change Him.

Re: We cannot have a relationship with God
Do you mean God as a real thing is changeless or just that our definition of God includes the quality of being changeless.bahman wrote:God is changeless.
Re: We cannot have a relationship with God
We don't really know what God is. We define God as Changeless being.Harbal wrote:Do you mean God as a real thing is changeless or just that our definition of God includes the quality of being changeless.bahman wrote: God is changeless.

How do we know he is changeless?bahman wrote:We define God as Changeless being.

Fuck off Bill, the only time you bother with anybody else's threads is when nobody else is bothering with yours.Bill Wiltrack wrote:.

There are no relationships in reality, except in this conception, cause and effect duality.bahman wrote:God is changeless. Relationship is about cause and effect. God is just another name for this immediate tacit aliveness being here now....before a perception /interpretation is made.
And so I agree with your premise.

OK, your views will be taken into account before they are discarded.Dontaskme wrote: There are no relationships in reality, except in this conception, cause and effect duality.

Re: We cannot have a relationship with God
We can define it for sake of argument otherwise we are talking about another God.Harbal wrote:How do we know he is changeless?bahman wrote: We define God as Changeless being.
Re: We cannot have a relationship with God
But I think this is what is known as begging the question. It's sort of like cheating.bahman wrote: We can define it for sake of argument
Re: We cannot have a relationship with God
That is not question begging. You can assume otherwise and see how argument precedes.Harbal wrote:But I think this is what is known as begging the question. It's sort of like cheating.bahman wrote: We can define it for sake of argument
Re: We cannot have a relationship with God
Yes it is begging the question. Your original assertion is based entirely on the premis that God is changeless yet it has not yet been established that he is changeless.bahman wrote: That is not question begging. You can assume otherwise and see how argument precedes.
Re: We cannot have a relationship with God
That is no question begging based on definition. The question begging or circular reason is when the conclusion supports premise.Harbal wrote:Yes it is begging the question. Re: We cannot have a relationship with God
Sez who? We either have, or have not; there is no "making" a relationship. And although God does not change, we do. Our relating to and with God in ongoing and progressive.bahman wrote:God is changeless. Relationship is about cause and effect.
