Have you ever read The Brothers Karamazov?. If not, why not?
No I have never read that book. I have read very few books, truth be told.
Have you ever seen a Shakespeare play in a theater with real actors?
I have seen plays. I live in Cleveland, Ohio. We have the second largest theater district in the United States, next to New York.
I would not be surprised if I have seen a Shakespearean play somewhere within the sixty-years that I have spent upon this earth.
You are being fed a diet of horse-shit every day, and you wonder why you are depressed??
Yeah. I watch Waaaay too much TV. I admit that. But I'm caught in a web right now.
These are the same guys that attacked your union and gave the world multinational corporations. Is it any wonder that you don't know your arse from your elbow?
Yeah. I know what you mean.
...but honestly, let's not look too deep into this thing. Let's just accept this kismet for what it is.
Perhaps neither one of us understand this but - YOU HELPED ME!
This thread HELPED ME. Even if it only gets me through this night. I was in a bad way & now I'm not.
Don't know if he lost the plot. This member seems to be attached to name calling. That's all. Harmless really. It doesn't bother me what they call me.
Let's not get cluttered upon someone else's possible shortcomings. Like I said. Tonight it's a win/win. You were able to help me and I am temporarily less burdened as of now.
Let's just let us enjoy this...and wish the best for this fellow member.
So much for your 'emptiness' and 'depression' O'Gnu. All just a sop to your NPD.
And not sure what a Friday night could mean to you? As I'm beginning to agree with Tom and think sloth your issue. Return to your religion Bill as you are obviously missing its crutch.

Of course you can, in fact your whole history upon the weeb shows your yearning to return to a faith. Your problem is that you were raised a catholic and they inculcate a deep-seated belief in the child that catholicism is christianity, its not. You can be born-again and without a church if desired. Why do you think he is called the redeemer? So take heart, a deep breath and return to a faith that you so obviously require to function. Read the NT, pray only in the manner Jesus describes, i.e. the Lord's Prayer in private, let Jesus, love and faith back into your heart and become this saviour you wish to be.
None of us can..
See this, just an avoidance technique as you cannot talk about others in such matters.
Let me tell you, Bill, I think you are too much sincere. On virtual discussion groups, like forums, that could also be an incentive to expose your insights. But in real life, often sincerity is seen like a sort of weakness, and people use to strip yourself of your last defenses. In front of a real person, you might be driven to empty yourself of your feelings, so that you'll get spoiled of your deepest soul. Emptiness could get to depression, I guess.
I did grow up in the Catholic religion...but I didn't know what Christianity was until Ouspensky.
The you need to re-read him as what you are doing is not his path.
Then, for a brief moment, I was there.
That was over thirty years ago. Now I am broken...and I can't get back.
You are chasing a chimera and demonstrate your misunderstanding of Ouspensky.
There is something broken in Bill Wiltrack the machine.
You're not kidding and a sign of this is talking about oneself in the third person.
I am the emptiness...and there really is no escape for me.

I think this simple existential angst and a dose of reading the old British philosophers would assist you, especially since you have fixated upon the loonier of the continental strand. Apart from that I think you wallow in your condition and have no intention of changing your slothful ways. Now personally I'd not bother you, each to their own, but the interweeb allows you to promote your harmful nonsense to others and as such I find that I have to speak my piece, not least because this is a philosophy forum. Note that I spend no time chasing any of your repeated posts across the weeb.
