Honor student placed in jail for tardiness and truancy at school

Thu, May 24, 2012 - 11 News Houston 2:32 | 450,230 views
HOUSTON-A judge threw a 17-year-old 11th grade honor student from Willis High School in jail after she missed school again. Judge Lanny Moriarty said last month Diane Tran was in his Justice of the Peace court for truancy and he warned her then to stop missing school.

Torture

On May 1, 2011, U.S. Special Forces killed Osama bin Laden. Torture apologists claimed that torture led to bin Laden. They were wrong. Now, Jose Rodriguez, former Director of the National Clandestine Service of the CIA, will publish Hard Measures making the same disproven claims that torture led to bin Laden and kept America safe. He and those who support his claims will again be wrong.

It’s time to set the record straight. The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) has reviewed more than 6 million pieces of information and is expected to produce a final report that will exceed 5,000 pages with 20,000 footnotes detailing CIA interrogation and detention practices.

SSCI Chair, Senator Dianne Feinstein, has said that nothing in the review found that torture led to bin Laden. To the contrary, she has said the report contains extensive new information about CIA interrogation and detention policies.

To move forward, we must learn from the mistakes of the past. Ask SSCI to release the real book on torture now. It’s time for the United States government to stand by national security policies based on facts, not fiction. Let’s end this debate: torture is counterproductive, illegal, immoral and unreliable.

USA: Wrong court, wrong place, wrong punishment: Five alleged ‘9/11 conspirators’ to be arraigned for capital trial by military commission at Guantánamo

On 5 May 2012, at the US naval base at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, a US Army Colonel, in his role as a military commission judge, is due to conduct the arraignment of five men who have been in US custody without trial for approaching a decade.
The route taken to get to this point is one that any government committed to human rights values should view as a betrayal of such principles.
At the hearing on 5 May, at which Amnesty International will have an observer, the charges against the men will be read out and they will be asked how they plead. This will be their second arraignment, the first having been held four years earlier, on 5 June 2008, under the previous US administration. Since then, the charges have been dismissed, a decision taken to transfer the men from Guantánamo to the US mainland to bring them to trial in civilian court, that decision reversed, the case handed back to the Pentagon, and charges for trial by military commission re-filed.

Are you so ashamed of your country and continent that you have to stike out at the one country that has kept you free (I use the term loosely since one can never be free under the socialism you espouse)?

You mean the USSR? As if it wasn't for their 20,000,000 dead we'd still be on the beaches.

I would never stoop to patriotism. I am only interested in the truth.

It has not kept me free. Freedom is an attitude of mind that transcends nations. A thing which you do not possess, as you are a a slave of your country.

Nothing to do with Stalin. I think Arising was talking about the real victor of WW2 - the people of the USSR.
The US was nothing but a side-show in the conflict.
The USSR lost more people than the rest of the world put together discluding China, against the Axis.
The US and UK contributed about the same - around half a million each.

D-Day would not have been possible were it not for the massive battles fought between Russia and Germany in numbers unimaginable by the West.

WW2 was decided in the fields of Kursk.

Unlike the boozo I don't have 'heroes' , although I admire the bravery of our Armed Forces.

The boozo will have to show me where I've said I'm against free-market capitalism per se.
