I have not seen any posts from Bill Wiltrack for some time now.
Richard Baron and Duncan Butlin are also missing.
Typist is gone too, but he announced his departure so I can understand.
I haven´t seen the boy from Norway, the one with the green elk without antics, either, for some time.

Nothing is permanent, not even a discussion group on the internet.

I miss Psychonaught, Rachel Ann, and Rortabund.

Bills probably got a job or been fired or gone to greener pastures to sell his schtick.
RB will be too busy being a philosopher and politico, plus there's not much to interest him lately I'd guess.
DB is probably still being medicated.

Psych I guess is enjoying married life.
RA was last seen entering philosophical academia - hope its going well RA.
Rortabend I guess got sick of the general lack of anything he could consider philosophy - although we have the articles section now Rort.

I miss Mhoraine, Rort, Nonsum (although I email him occasionally), Mickthinks, Psy, Michael C (Coleman? forgot his last name but he was always so level headed)...oh yes...and Rachel Ann...she was pretty cool....Barbara Brooks, Bill, typist, Fiveredapples, strawdoggie and his sidekick what's his name...(yikes!) Oh yes....And Launt and his sidekick Camel (toe) the queen of sheba.....lol...kidding...

But Richard Baron because he was our only real contributing philosopher, I think...besides Rick but he really doesn't contribute.

But more importantly ...who would miss me if I was gone? :)

That´s a reason to stay if some people care about us.

::::::::::::::::::::::::

Even if Mr Butlin is on medication why can´t he argue with us here ?
I might be afraid to talk to people on medication in real life but internet is safe and might be good for both parties.

Sometimes I see a person in the street and I wonder: I would never talk to such a person in real life, but on the internet I can.

Comfort yourself with The Voice of Time :) He's Norwegian too, except of course, I'm leaving in 5 days to go on a world journey without money and valuables... so that'll be a quick stay for me, unfortunately ;)

Only the girls?

You know what we should do? We should form the opposite of a sit in and demand he join the forum conversations again....we could all post his picture as our "sinature" or "tag line" and make him (at least in spirit) be present at our discussions...lol. I know...I know....I have a devious controlling side to my nature.

Hey! I haven't been here for ages, and nobody missed me,... (big sulks)

Seriously, I get tired of the pointless sniping that overwhelms everything else. I can put up with a bit of inter-poster snidery and bitterness, (openness, freedom of speech, all that, y'know..,) but unfortunately PN forum does get tedious sometimes. Unlike the magazine, which is still brilliant.

Hmmmm. I wonder if there's a natural law of debating forums, where a critical mass of fatuous bickering begins to dominate, to the point where a previously vibrant body becomes moribund, even putrescent.?
And I wonder if the condition, once reached, can be reversed?

Really? I hadn't noticed. Kidding! LOL I missed you. I forgot to tell you how much I love that song you posted a while back...with shirley bassey....when my sis and cousin and I were kids....we went into my mom's lingerie drawer and put on these silky sexy night gowns...(had to double and triple the spaghetti straps to fit our little arms...that is how young we were) and put on her way to big for us high heels...and performed an act to Shirley's "Hey big spender" complete with swinging our too big string of pearls or feather boa! We were quite the sensation!

Anyway, I know what you are saying about the bickering...it can go overboard. But I think that is the nature of so many different personalities having free speech. But have you noticed how there is a tone to the forum even though this happens? Have you noticed that eventually, people start to understand that all the fighting will not make anyone true enemies in a place where they can have their say? That even though we all disagree in some threads...in others we will agree with each other and can even be friends?

I think that is the remarkable thing about this forum....so I can put up with a little fist-a-cuffs once in a while, I suppose.

Perhaps some of those you mention are contributing under another name ?
'Hello Rabbit is that you ?'
Rabbit: 'Let's pretend it isn't and see what happens...'

:)

Hi Marjoramblues!

That would be delightful! And I could totally understand....if someone wanted to be carefree and footloose without having to fear his/her name would be dragged through the mud....sort of like that story where the king trades places with the pauper so that he can see how the other half lives!

Ya know...a long time ago .so long ago that I think it was the first PN forum..I had pm'ed Nonsum and was complaining that I was too stupid to have anyone take me seriously. I was sad because inside I knew what I wanted to say...but my limitations with language kept me from saying it....so I asked him if he thought it would be alright if I made a new name...where he could help me participate with the forum (sort of like cyrano de bergerac) so I could see what it was like to be treated as if I had something important to say or as if I belonged to the intelligent crowd...or other such nonsense...lol.

He said that it would be wrong to do that because you would be pulling the wool over your friends eyes. And while I can certainly understand where he was coming from...and yes it would be wrong in that sense...I think that if one of my friends did the same thing...meaning deceived me so that could see "how the other half lived" or something to that effect....I would not mind...as it would only be an experiment to live out a fantasy and not an intention to harm.

Anyway, we didn't do it cause I could not convince him to come over to the dark side ...lol  But that was part of his charm.... :) Good ol' Nonsum.....
