Toilet seat down

Post by Philosophy Explorer »

I consider it sexist to require a man to leave the toilet seat down after using the bathroom (at a job where both genders share the bathroom).

What do you think about it?

As it happens, every culture that I am aware of has been prudish about 'bathrooms'. WC means water closet, lavatory comes from the Latin to wash, bog has obvious etymology, Crapper was a brand of toilets, even toilet comes from the French for cloth, being the cloth women apparently sheltered their modesty with. Apart from shit-house, I can't think of any word for 'restroom' that doesn't have it's root in disguising what it means.

Toilet seat down...non negotiable.

There is a reason toilets come with a lid...it's is supposed to be lid down when not in use...for aesthetic reasons. Nothing sexist about it.

Women out there. ..put the lid down so you will know how he feels and it will look presentable...so at least psychologically. ..it look just cleaned.

I prefer to go a step further - both seat and lid >> down. It's good feng shui which doesn't hurt even if one is suspicious of anything thousands of years old. Besides it looks better.

This is a perplexing problem indeed, however, having discussed this in depth with my pet cat, she recommends that I close the toilet/ bathroom door.

Problem solved! 8)

Shouldn't really matter. The effort to take it down is neglible and so it doesn't matter who does it. Women who complain are lazy and lacking in prioritizing their emotions. It's not something which really should irritate anyone.

I occasionally prefer to sit pissing anyways though, depend on whether I'm stressed or relaxed. Relaxed = sit, stressed = stand.

Apparently it's much better for men to pee sitting down--better for the prostate.

If you want a better prostate you're supposed to finger your own ass (which few men know and even fewer would care about doing... light buttsex = better prostate). I hardly think standing or sitting being makes a significant difference.

Apparently sitting empties the bladder better. Argue it with the specialists.

I thought that was squatting and it was the bowels mainly. For men standing empties the bowels much better, not sure about women but the ones I've asked wouldn't dream of siting on a shared toilet seat, unless they really loved the person.

If you live with a women then the seat should be put down as they really hate having to touch a germy seat and especially with most mens aim and hygiene standards.

Who would empty their bowels standing? You would end up with a big mess.
