Bigotry

Should you think about your duty, or about the consequences of your actions? Or should you concentrate on becoming a good person?

Bigotry

Bigotry
We may be repulsed by what ISIS has been and is still doing. But its ethic has to be fought on valid grounds.
It is obviously absurd to say it is not Christian.
It is better to say it is not true Islam.
But they both invite bigoted contradiction and blind Jihad or Crusade.
Neither God or Prophet can be defined in any way that is useful, other than by stating what they do and say.
Take away those actions and nothing remains but flesh and blood.
It is the usual circular logic to speak of certain actions and sayings as showing that a person is or was an infallible god or prophet. And then to say as an infallible god every word must be true.
Ultimately Man is the judge and jury for all he believes, and that includes the ethical definition of what is 'godly'. Otherwise the only value is power itself.
But the price of this is that we must employ basic values, which in themselves and in isolation tell us nothing. We are ultimately left with the appearance of a choice between sets of value. And can only choose from a basis of what fate has already made us.
Nevertheless, rational altruism as and when set against bigotry [etc] and moral relativism [etc] will appeal to such rational choice as we may have.
