I've got to write an essay about Aristotle's golden mean and I have a small problem, as I cannot find criticism of it, though I remember reading something about it in one of Kant's books. Could somebody tell me in which is it or just tell me I'm wrong?

TheKleszcz,

What do you mean by criticism? It's a proportion, found a great deal in nature and thought to be aesthetically pleasing. I would have thought this would be a historical - descriptive essay, rather than a critical essay.
You might want to find examples of it in nature - seashells, the human face etc, and other examples in art and architecture. Good luck with the essay.

I just realised why I couldn't find anything about it in Groundwork of Metaphysics of Morals, Kant wrote about the golden mean in Metaphysics of Morals. He surely could have found some better title, saving me some confusion. :)

mb,
Did you mean Pythagoras's golden ratio?

Socrates golden mean is more like the balance point between extremes.

He might be talking about the Nicomachean Ethics.
