Not very fitting in regards to the title of your post.

Revolution
is not a war of destruction
but one of survival
that war never ends
it is simply a spur
to evolution
once we get mired in bullshit

admitted
its a dirty job
and one regrets if blood is spilled
but somebody must do it
if reason does not work
the fear of death
is always the bottom line

Turning the other cheek
is a great line
but I prefer the one that says
to every bully that needs a whipping
This hurts me
more than it hurts you

Magnetman that is the most hypocritical piece of writing I've read in a long time. Shameless. Book mark this thread of yours and refer to it often.

Personally if a liberal like Obama thinks the situation needs 30000 troops maybe it really does but my suspicion would be to double his estimate.

One thing I do acknowledge - there must be a lot of left wing voters that are pissed off with Obama right now.

I think this is why you are not a Yank MM as what did you think would happen when you voted Democrat, world-peace?
From my perspective American has two political parties, one centre-right, the other far-right and both adhere to the US President maintaining 'national interest' at the forefront of geo-politics, no matter how 'liberal' they may be.

Personally, he's obviously trying to make the best of a bad-job, don't forget the risk he is taking by stating a leaving date as the Taliban may now just wait. I suppose you'd just want the troops home but we've learnt enough lessons about leaving such a 'hole' and don't want a Taliban controlled nuclear Pakistan, although no matter how we go if we don't ensure the Afghans are armed and effectively governed the Talib will be back in charge and Pakistan may again become a worry.

Find a world history book and randomly open it several times. More often than not, you'll find a page with some sort of conflict going on somewhere. The human race isn't very good at living peacefully, as the wheels of meliorism turn extremely slow.

Doesn't it make you curious what made him change? What information is this man getting and how does he know he can trust it? Or.... if our leaders are just a mouthpiece for another leader there is little they can do. It just doesn't make sense that Obama wanted to end the war and now wants to send more troops. What could possibly make a liberal minded preson change his mind about war is what I want to know? What would make those of us who are also against the war, all of a sudden say, "Let's send more troops!" It has to make you think it is something more complex than Obama turning evil out of the blue...doesn't it?

Told ya we should have voted for the woman. :P

What do you think is the reason?

My speculation is: the situation there really will be bad if the Taliban win.
- access to nukes
- access to oil pipe lines
- on going world terror and financing for taliban and al'qaeda

No doubt Wootah....but lets be realistic here...it is only a matter of time that someone uses nukes, etc., whether or not we have a war. Why keep training armies...didn't we train the taliban, too? There is no simple solution. Maybe Obama is doing the only thing he can ...giving the afghan people a warning notice so they know this is it, like it or not. Still, it doesn't mean there will ever be peace. Tell me...what would you do?

100,000 troops - wipe out the Taliban. I don't believe they can change. Surrender terms has to be complete.

Maybe the US should stop paying them to not attack US supply lines?
